Justin Madubuike DT Texas A&M

I was looking around at DL prospects two weeks ago and this dude stood out. He has the modern day build for the position. He plays with low leverage and is quick inside.

The ratings are all over the board depending on where you look. Some think he is a rotational DL at best and others see a huge ceiling.

I think he will end up being a rotational piece on passing downs but an elite one at that. I would be comfortable taking him in the second round. He will probably go mid to late first.

I'd almost rather test drive thr IDLthey have on the roster to see if anyone steps up and focus on improving DE talent.
Where is this guy projected to be drafted?

They have over 1,000 snaps to replace with Buck/day gone.

Thomas/Jones are in there last yr of their deals and taylor is dealing with a ACL.

Yes building that dline is going to be critical to maintain success on the defensive side of the ball. It's going to hurt seeing Buckner in a colt uniform I though he would be a career niner.

Yeah I thought he was untouchable I don't think they need to spend another 1st on DT but someone like Madubuike could be a great rotational guy with upside.
Yep...if both Brown & Kinlaw are gone and the OT they want, won't surprise me a bit to see Lynch trade out of #13. With that, Madubuike could well be in play. Even if Lynch takes an OT at #13, I'd say this guy's still very likely their target. I know many want a WR & DB, but both of those positions are very deep & talented. OT's and premier DT's aren't. If Lynch can come away with a top OT and DT, I'd say job well done.

Could be in play as in be out first or second draft pick?

I like him but he's not all that.
Anyone know Aaron Donald's combine numbers in comparison to this guy? Next gen stats had him at a 96 for athleticism so I would think it might be close.

Madubuike only did 3 events. Donald ran a faster 40, ran a faster cone drill, did more bench reps. Madubuike is a good athlete by all means, but he's not an Aaron Donald. Watch the tape as well, he is fast, but lacks explosion off the line. He is actually pretty good at shadowing QBs and leveraging blockers to attack. I like him as a complimentary piece on the line, and we obviously have the players to free up space for him, but he is not a one man distrubtor like Donald.

I like Madubuike for the 49ers, but he has scheme limitations that will hurt his value. Alot of teams will have him graded as a situational player, without the mass and size to be a 3 down player. If he is a good fit, then by all means go for it, but I see him coming off the board after 40 and probably after 50.

I don't think anyone should be using Donald as a comp for any DT. He's a unicorn.

Madubuike exactly what our coaching staff like at DT.

This. Every player will look inferior. We just need a scheme fit guy that can take advantage of the favorable opportunities they will have based on the attention paid to everyone else.

Yup, same goes for guys like Julio Jones.

In fact, this should probably be a sticky post. Do not comp your favorite prospect to Julio Jones or Aaron Donald.

Im just not a fan of player comps in general. I remember the Kevin White Draft people were comping him to Larry Fitzgerald and I legit got triggered by it. Mostly cause they were just saying it cause he had dreads and wore 11. But also Fitz was the most dominant receiver I've ever watched in college
