2020 draft rumors

There are a lot of great WRs over the years that weren't picked in the 1st round and a lot of busts that were. We all know that where you're picked is no guaranty of success or failure. The top 3 ranked receivers in this years draft would all look good in a Niners uni but I wouldn't mind some of the others if we pick a linemen.

I think Brunskill would be asked to play Lt should Staley decide to retire.

Or Shon Coleman.

Isn't Coleman coming off an ACL? Might be a while.
There is no CB worthy of #13. Better be a WR at #13 if it is WR or CB.

Trade down if they want a CB.

We really have to see what we have in Hurd. We could have a hidden gem.

Jeff Okudah isn't worth being drafted at #13?

Okudah is a top 5 pick.

CJ Henderson is worth a 13th pick in my mind.
It´s just that with the rush on the QBs, a top OT or WR will probably fall.
If a Andrew Thomas or better Jedrick Wills is there, you draft him I think.
Shanahan and Lynch want to build the trenches with high picks in the draft.
The question is what they think of Brunskill? He showed this season that he could be really good as a RT but also as a LT.
Remember the game against the Packers. After he replaced Skule at LT, the game was over basically because the Packers couldn´t get to Garoppolo.
So if he´s the guy after Joe, they probably will draft a WR or a CB because Sherman is not eternal.

That's why I prefer trading down because Kyle has missed on a lot of WR's like Dante Pettis and Jalen Hurd.
Better to trade down and get more picks and select either Mims or Jefferson
Later on also consider Aiyuk, Claypool, Gibson, etc

This is based on what? He was a significantly better RT than LT at Notre Dame. Tons of former NFL tackles have emphasized how difficult it is switching sides.

Because he played LT in college, significantly better or not McGlinchey knows the playbook, has NFL experience and I'm willing to bet Shanahan wouldn't hesitate to put him there.

Why didn't Shanahan try that in 2019 when Staley went down then?

Skule was garbage as a backup LT (62.3 grade and allowed 6 sacks even though Garoppolo was getting the ball out quickly). If our line is fine with McGlinchey at LT and Brunskill at RT, why didn't we make that adjustment last year?

There are four guys in the draft who were better LTs in college than McGlinchey. I'd rather draft one of them and keep McGlinchey at RT. I'm not sold on Brunskill being a solid starter at RT despite 474 snaps where he had a pretty good PFF grade.

You do realize Justin Skule was a 6th round rookie starting. That alone shows how much confidence Shanahan has in Justin Skule. I do remember Skule getting benched during the Green Bay MNF game however. But again he was a rookie starting, Shanahan didn't panic and go out and sign a veteran after Skule starting. And I've said that McGlinchey is capable (in another thread) of moving to LT and I believe Brunskill did replace Skule at LT when McGlinchey was healthy. But why didn't Shanahan make the adjustment, why move one of your best players outta position when you have others capable?

You should be able to infer that Okudah is a top 5 pick and thus I am completely disregarding him in my statement.

Hurd gets injured -> Kyle missed on the pick...

I agree - I think CJ is worth the #13th pick.
