2020 draft rumors

Jets GM's Comments Could Bode Well for Raiders' Chances at Landing Jerry Jeudy
By Brady Williams | Apr 02 2020

After the Antonio Brown experiment failed so spectacularly in 2019, the Las Vegas Raiders are in need of another solution at wide receiver. Tyrell Williams was a solid option last season, but certainly not a clear No. 1. As the current free agent pool of wideouts continues to dry up, it's clear that the draft may be Mike Mayock and Co.'s best bet at securing a compelling target for Derek Carr. And with New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas commenting that Gang Green might go for an offensive lineman, the Raiders could be in prime position to get one of the best: Jerry Jeudy.

Douglas expressed a belief that the NFL doesn't have a surplus of talent in the trenches. Whether that's true or not, if the Jets pass on receiver at pick No. 11, the Raiders will probably be wide open to take the all-world Alabama standout immediately after.

A hint, perhaps, from Jets GM Joe Douglas about his intentions early in the NFL Draft?:

"I think there's a real shortage of quality offensive linemen in the NFL, so we're going to do our best to get as many quality ones as we can because you can never have too many."

Great twitter thread on what Arnette brings. I have to say, I really like Arnette. He really played Reagor well and wasn't afraid of his speed.

Yeah I think he's a player for sure. Combine killed him.

If they could come away with one of the top 3 WRs, Arnette, and Damien Lewis as our top 3 picks I'd be more than happy

I've been saying it, Douglas loves lineman. The guys they brought in are junk.

I know PFF isn't the end all be all, but they have a favorable opinion of Arnette. He was one of the highest graded CBs, the last 2 years. The problem is the character red flags though.

Front office tells maiocca to throw that out in the public. Staley is laughing because he is in on the scheme. They are trying to lure a team up to trade.

All front offices do this. NOW for what they are doing , If the draft board is favorable to trade back to grab EJ Henderson they will do it. Sherms replacement. If they feel Is the Brunskill is Joes replacement they will go for Ruiz who is a Center Guard guy . He's goes at 31.

With this Scenario We have Sherms replacement. Also, Ruiz will be a pro bowler at either center or guard. Thoughts

LOL, if you believe that nonsense. Henderson turns 40 in August and is a LB. He's going to play CB in the Cover 3?

The WR is worth 13. Some even suggested trading up for him. But the guy who shut him down....which happens to be a bigger position of need, isn't?

Add in Hopkins to ARI, DK only going to get better. Deep WR class this year and next. That means we are going to need some dogs on tbe outside

Cause somebody is going to draft Jerry Jeudy and that guy has a history of just falling down trying to cover Jeudy....
My bad, Good catch. C.J. Florida. I stand by Staley and Maiocco. I still wondering about additional FA pickups. Also, All of this is subject to the actual draft and if you can get someone to trade down with..

Us drafting a WR at 13 -> Kyle missed on the pick (Hurd)

That's absurd. Dude had a broken back. And we cannot rely on Hurd due to HEALTH, not actual talent on the field. The one time we saw him the dude was a beast out there.

Us drafting a WR at 13 -> Kyle let Sanders go and needs a top flight WR that can start immediately and play at a high level.

he broke his ankle on 1st play of game no doubt about that.

Is it just me or does Jeudy only lines up on the LOS during run plays and pass plays. Why would someone so advanced in RR not be asked to win off the LOS? You would think they'd have Ruggs and his speed be the free release guy.

Only on the LOS for run and pass plays? Didn't notice that. That leaves a ton of plays for him to not be on the LOS.

He played in the slot a ton this yr with Ruggs and Smith outside. He can play outside without question. Did it in 2018 and he's releases off the LOS are elite for a 21 yr old.

Just seems odd to me

Literally his best attribute is getting off the LOS.
Well that was in college but college is over. With his slender frame he's going to have to gain some upper body strength to beat the press from bigger, stronger corners in the NFL.

He skipped the bench press @ the combine for a reason.

That and being ready for more contested catch opportunities that he didn't get much of in college are the 2 things to watch for in his rookie year. Everything else pretty much checks the boxes @ this point.
