2020 draft rumors

Also looks like they went away from the # rankings they traditionally did, and now assign letter grades. Either that, or you need a paying subscription to add them.

it's not Rang, Brugler, Reuter anymore either...

Thanks. Jeremiah would have been my guess, but i really dont have an overview to all draft experts in farfar away :)

Edith: is there something, next to the nfl.com Prospects "grades" which sets the players in comparison by numbers and margins?
To see where the dropoffs are?

I believe the grades here are by Zierlein

Two 2nds? I don't think there's a single team giving 2 seconds to move up to 31

I disagree with this statement. In fact, in most offensive schemes, your "prototypical" x receiver is your big, strong WR, not your agile fleet of foot receiver. Of course, the elite receiver is the one who checks both boxes.

All I said is getting off the LOS is more about footwork not size/strength.

A lot of those big/strong WRs depend more on winning those contested catches, not necessarily winning off the LOS.

Also theres a lot of big WRs that used in the slot as well, not necessarily as their split end.

End of the day kyle wants versatile WRs...he values separation.

I wouldn't worry too much about X or Z. Deebo played both spots. Kyle uses his guys everywhere, which is why he requires that all his WRs possess the ability to beat man coverage.

Agreed.
Greg Papa was just talking about the virtual draft that the NFL will be holding. He suggested having 1 round per day so the teams would have extra time to evaluate the players still on the board and contact teams about trades. At first I thought it was a bad idea but the more I thought about it the more sense it made. There's no other live sports so they could have the prime time slot to themselves for 7 days. What say the rest of you.

Nah leave it as is. Let these GMs and FOs earn their paychecks.

A prime time slot for just round 7 is kind of dumb.

But something like a prime time slot for the first 12 picks, the next 24 picks, then round 2, then rounds 3-4, then rounds 5-7? I'd be down with that.

This, no excuses. This will show who's worked their asses off and who didn't. They had 3 years to scout these guys for the jrs and 4 for seniors plus they had the combine.

Normally I would agree with that but what the F*** else are they going to show in prime time. Reruns of games that we've all seen over and over. Even if it only runs 2 hours, that's enough time to give each team their usual 5 minutes. Remember its still 17 days away. How many more nights of nothing to watch can you stand. If they were knocking out an actual game then that would be different.

They also suggested allowing some extra time for the picks since contacting another team could be a problem since personnel are going to be scattered all over the place and communication problems might pop up. They have less than 3 weeks to get everyones home set up to be able to do this.

It's not about scouting. They already did that. It's more about trying to decide where to go based on who's left if someone you wanted gets picked ahead. That's often when the trades occur and they may need more time to contact other teams with everyone spread all over.

I also heard Papa today talking about this - I believe it was Schefter who originally came up with the idea of having one round each day this year due to the circumstances. I like the idea given what's going on and also that all teams are going to be scrambling to get prepared for the first day, April 23, which is coming up fast.

I'm one of those who loves watching the Draft and it cannot get here soon enough...I would watch intently on each day, including Day 7/Rd. 7. Also, what you mention in your first sentence...agreed!

The difference is normally everyone is in one location. Now all the team execs are going to be working from home. They're going to need a way to connect so they can all be in on things at the same time. Not everyone has the same ability to link up so the teams are going to be scrambling to make sure they have a reliable way to do it. Even the best phone systems have drop outs. I don't know if the league is actually considering this since it would be more for ESPN and NFL Network so they have something to show every night for a week. I would prefer one round per night since it wouldn't require spending so much time each night. Two or 3 hours would be easier than 5 or 6.
