2020 draft rumors

Putting us in a prime spot to trade down

Why are the giants unlikely? They have zero at RT and Solder is massively overpaid and likely on his way out after this yr.

They don't draft like that. They don't just go down the board to the next guy with the highest grade, especially not in the first. They've proven that they don't adhere to BPA. They specifically identify their guys and draft them irrespective of perceived value or slotting or whatever.

That's why they were ready to take Reuben Foster at 2 and scrambled to work out a trade with every team at every damn spot to get him or why they gave up more than Titans did to move up AFTER them to get Pettis or how they explicitly said they began to panic over potentially losing Wishnowski as early as the third freaken round. Why Deebo went ahead of AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, etc. Their draft philosophy is to land their guy. The 49ers will not draft the best remaining WR on the board out of the top 3 if he's not their guy. This is how they operate. That's why Maiocco said brace yourself for a trade back.

They don't draft like that. They've proven that they don't necessarily adhere to BPA. They specifically identify their guys and draft them irrespective of perceived value or slotting or whatever.

That's why Maiocco said brace yourself for a trade back.

I'm saying if they have Jeudy-Lamb-ruggs all at the same spot on their big board then they take who's there.hell they could have them all ranked higher than 13.

If they have one guy vastly higher on their big board then I get it. We unfortunately don't know. I do get what you're saying and agree.
The thing is its not just talent. Kyle is such a sticker for high character players and certain type of demeanor and personality that it's extremely unlikely that all 3 are even close to each other on their board because they're all very different people.

And yep, they factor that into their grades. There's a video of John Lynch talking about how one of their criteria for grading players is how they fit in their locker room.

This is a different draft based on not really getting to do visits. I do agree they're all about character (oops Foster and Williams)

All three are regarded as being all football with no real red flags. Their all high character guys.

I'm just saying we don't know their big board, that's it.

They do this in FA too. Well documented. They aren't going to read the room. The board. They have their targets and will get their guys.

Doing this little target project has literally helped lay out exactly how Kyle is trying to build his team for me. Right. Down. The. Line. Think "Atlanta 2016." The only difference is his Julio Jones is a TE here.

What you're saying is you badly badly badly want a WR at 13 no matter what.

And that's OK.

Yeah, I'd venture to guess that they have a prototypical "big board" and a board on the side filled with "their guys," which take priority over the big board guys.

I can totally see that actually.

Please show me their big board and we can discuss it.

It's a similar philosophy to how the Pats and Seahawks draft too.

Some people may not like it, but they came really close to winning it all, with the team they built.

Two teams that have been disgustingly bad at drafting

I got no problem with how SF drafts I'm just saying we don't know who they have ranked where. It's all speculation.

Yup, the 49ers actually adopted most of their grading system from the Patriots. The criteria is definitely different from most teams. They don't grade a player in a bubble, slap on a grade and them put them on a big board. They have very unique and subjective criteria. It actually makes perfect sense because they're not grading players in general. This isn't the draft network or NFL.com. The 49ers grade players relative to their organization beliefs and principles, locker room chemistry and roster spots/needs.
