You bet! This year it seems the 49ers really could go in any number of directions early on. They need or could use help on the offensive line, corner, wr, and interior defensive line.

In today's NFL it is. Look I'm all for upgrading the guard spot...don't need to spend a top 15 pick to do that.
It's really not.

Michael Thomas, Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Keenan Allen all 2nd or 3rd round picks. Deandre Hopkins was the 27th pick. Other guys that arent elite by my standard but were top 15 in receiving yards last year, Golladay, Godwin, Landry, Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson, Robert Woods, Stefon Diggs. All outside the first round. DJ Moore was late first at 24.
Now who is the elite mid and early first round picks. Julio Jones, Mike Evans, Amari Cooper, OBJ (assuming he can put another good season together). Notice only 50 percent of those guy are with the team that drafted them.
I think theres a good chance the best WRs in this class and in next years class are taken outside the first round.
Agreed.

well... 50% of the top 10 WRs came from the first round. I don't think your going to get better odds playing second or third round picks.

List your top 10 please. Also, I'm only considered about the pick at 13. I'm fine with a WR at 31 or in a trade back, so WR's on your list like Deandre Hopkins that were picked 27th cant really be used to advocate picking one at 13. Thats a better argument for picking one out in a trade back to 25, or with the 31st.

I mean... I think that's expected and I'd agree. If your guy(s) are not there and you can get good value trading down, by all means. Just a question of who those guys are. They probably have 2 or 3 that they think could be there. Then there are others that they don't expect to be there. So yeah, I'd rather trade down than take the 4th OT or Kinlaw. Probably even Henderson who I like a lot.
I may be wrong but I'd be ok if we didn't care for one or even two of the top WR's. I'm going to assume we at least like one (likely Jeudy). I'm going to guess maybe 2 of the OT's are options (Wills maybe Becton?). They may not expect Okudah, Simmons, Young. One (not Young) could possibly slip?
But say Jeudy and Wills are gone, So are Brown, Okudah, and Simmons. If they are not in love with Lamb or Ruggs and trade down, it makes sense. I won't even get started again about the 4th OT crowd.

add to that, most of us will give whoever the pick is the benefit of the doubt.

For sure. There's probably not too many we'd be upset about at 13. Lots of quality players.

I have been saying oline for awhile now, but Jerry Jeudy is a true Blue Chip prospect and got my vote. While Andrew Thomas is a really good prospect, he isn't dominant.
Ultimately I believe the 49ers trade down a few spots with a team like Denver or really in between 15 and 21. Missing out on the top 3 but still coming away with a guy like Justin Jefferson.

It's like buying a car. mini van or sports car and being a family man myself I'm going with Andrew Thomas the mini van. Safe, practical, and will protect your Precious cargo (Jimmy G) for a long time. Sports cars like Jeudy or any of the top receivers for that matter, my favorite being Lamb, who I definitely would love to have are fun to fantasize about, but rarely give you a return on your investment that a mini van does.

I guess the question is..............is Jerry Jeudy really an NFL #1 WR? Obviously, he's not a Julio Jones or Megatron physical specimen. He can run amazing routes, but his hands are a little suspect. What say you?
Then again, there's been so much trade talk lately (......which I love) about the Broncos or Bucs leap frogging the Niners to get their guy. May not even come to this.

Jeudy could very well remind people why ignoring tape and letting the combine cloud your judgement time after time continues to be a bad idea.
