MADDOG Big Board?

I'm just an idiot so don't take this as me thinking I know better. But I do love it when MD confirms a slightly unpopular opinion of mine. He had Mahomes as the top QB in 2017, and AJ Brown last year. Now CeeDee this year.

The draft makes idiots out of all of us. The moment anyone really thinks they have figured this out, they are completely delusional. You simply have to do the hard work, and then come up with your analysis, and then be prepared to defend it.

There are no "draft gurus" out there. Everyone is a hack, just trying to hit on as many as possible.

curious if you have time for a quick breakdown on Ruggs and why you have him a little lower than the consensus? just briefly, speaking for myself, I want him the most cause I think his skillset plus our coach would be able to maximize his potential, which is sky-high
MD, thank you for jumping in here! I love your analysis of these players. I've got two questions for you. If they slide, do you see the 49ers considering Kinlaw or a top OT instead of one of the big three WRs? Second who do you think Lynch was referring to as the six foundational talents? Thank you for all your hard work sir!

I like Ruggs, but see him as more of a late first, early second round value. He is my WR6 and 23rd overall best player, but I see more productive players ahead of him. This is not a Dante Pettis situation, where I wanted to throw a chair through the TV.

Ruggs was often the 4th option on the football team. To me, if you are selecting a player 13th overall, he has to be a guy that has to be more productive. In other words, he should be better than Jeudy, which I don't think he is.

I get that he is fast, So was Breshad Perriman.

So, at 31, I wouldn't have a problem with Ruggs. At 13, it is WAY too rich for me. Simply better players on the board.

I'd be surprised if they went DT in the first round. Why trade Buckner for an unproven guy? Doesn't make much sense.

As for OT, that should be a primary target for the team, along with WR. I really like Josh Jones, and think Wills has a pretty decent chance to slide tonight.

Not sure what Lynch was talking about.
MD, Peter Schrager did a composite of all internet mock drafts and his summary was at #13, Jeudy and Ruggs are both there, and Lamb went at #10. We trade down with DEN, who gets Jeudy, and we get Ruggs at #15 PLUS a pick in Rd2 or 3. MD, would you like Ruggs in that situation, at #15 Plus a pick in late 2nd or early 3rd?

Oh he had us getting OT at #31 and standing pat.

Fair points for sure. Perriman had more size as well. I agree that there should be better players available at #13, and that's why I agree with the notion that we either need to take one of THOSE players or trade down. I would be fine with either option. Ultimately, if we passed on someone for Ruggs at #13, while I wouldn't love it, I wouldn't totally loathe it like some other headscratching picks in our history..

Keeping this page bookmarked for any insight!

Thanks for the check-in however. Always appreciated.

So much this. I don't watch much college ball, so without MDs boards, I'm flying blind. I won't know whether to boo or cheer...
Here is my board. About 100 players short, but it is what it is...

2020 NFL Draft Best Board

Player School Position
1 Chase Young Ohio St DE
2 Joe Burrow LSU QB
3 Jeffrey Okudah Ohio St CB
4 Andrew Thomas Georgia OT
5 Isaiah Simmons Clemson LB
6 Ceedee Lamb Oklahoma WR
7 Jonathan Edwards Wisconsin RB
8 Josh Jones Houston OT
9 CJ Henderson Florida CB
10 Tristen Wirfs Iowa OT
11 Derrick Brown Auburn DT
12 Jedrick Wills Alabama OT
13 Denzel Mims Baylor WR
14 Michael Pittman, Jr USC WR
15 Antoine Winfield Minnesota S
16 Jerry Jeudy Alabama WR
17 Kristian Fulton Clemson CB
18 Justin Jefferson LSU WR
19 Justin Herbert Oregon QB
20 Kenneth Murray Oklahoma LB
21 Ezra Cleveland Boise St OT
22 Javon Kinlaw South Carolina DT
23 Henry Ruggs Alabama WR
24 Mekhi Becton Louisville OT
25 Josh Uche Michigan LB/Edge

Special note: I think Tua is a terrific college talent, and nice young man, and great leader. I simply don't trust his body....at all. He is completely off my board for medical reasons.

Can't wait to see all of you soon.

-MD

P.S. My pick at 13 comes down to Lamb or Josh Jones.

At 31, it will probably come down to the opposite of what is taken at 13, OT or WR, although I like Winfield a lot...we'll see how the draft plays out soon.
