I think so.... at least partially.
I think QBs will have to find out were he is before the snap, and mobile QBs have to find out if he is spying sometime during their progression. I think against mobile QBs he is a player that will "eat time" during a play. In game of seconds and inches...I expect mobile QBs are going to want to know were he is before they scramble.
1/10th of a second matters, we all saw how many "almost sacks" the defense had last year, even if someone freezes for part of a second finding were he roamed off too....its a win for the defense.
He goes sideline to sideline as well as most elite LBers. He goes backwards into coverage better then most LBs...he could end up as the best coverage LB in the last several generations. He comes forward like a cruise missile.
I think his only real flaw is zone defense. He was not great in zone ( I know he had multiple interception playing zone, but he gave up catches to make tackles too), he tends to want to player over the top of the zone when he really does have the speed to play under and stop the pass. So while he could spy in the middle, i don't know how much he could zone and spy. We shall see...

Absolutely take him if he drops to us, he better than any lb we have and would make our defense even more untouchable

Can he really play safety in the nfl? Is he going to stuff a hole at lb? All the highlights show him running around makeing tackles in space. He will be attacked straight up at the next level. Will he hold up?

He's just a freakishly big, fast, and smooth athlete who plays exceptionally well in space for his size. DB skills/mentality in a LB's body. But I think that makes you a LB in today's passing league. I'm sure a decade ago he would've been what Taylor Mays was supposed to be.

Simmons is listed as a linebacker here, but really he's just a damn good football player, regularly shifting between linebacker, safety, edge rusher, nickelback, and cornerback alignments. At 6-foot-3 and 228 pounds with incredibly long arms, Simmons is a uniquely built and extraordinary athlete―he's a former state champion long jumper with explosive hops, turbo acceleration, and high-end speed―allowing him to range sideline to sideline, blitz, or cover in the back end with equal aplomb. The Tigers star is a ferocious tackler who enthusiastically fills gaps seeking contact. He's instinctive; he trusts his eyes and always seems to know where the ball is going. He can flip his hips and run with receivers, and knows how to turn back and look for the ball in coverage. He's one of the few defenders who made the 2019 LSU offense sweat.
The junior playmaker filled up just about every category on the stat sheet this year, racking up 104 tackles―16.5 going for a loss―with 8.0 sacks, three picks, eight pass deflections, and two forced fumbles. He has All-Pro potential early in his career.

I would not put a lot of energy into that belief structure tho....
He had multiple pass defenses as a Slot CB and several picks/sacks... playing safety...
Plus he is an absolute cruise missile to the ball.
There are not many players on defense were a QB absolutely must know were that guy is before the snap.... This is one of them. He can line up in so many places and END drives from that spot.
I think he is the perfect player for teams that want to play a bunch of single high safety , especially teams that face dynamic run pass threats in their division.
He is a VERY effective blitzer from the Safety position. Few players can navigate traffic the way he does to find the ball.
There are a lot of good players in this draft, I really.....realllly.... think he is a generational talent and very very rare in his skill set.
I would rather trade the farm to get up and get him then i would to trade the farm and go get Chase Young...and I really like Young too.
I am not saying he will trivialize mobile QBs...but from day one...snap one....in the NFL...whatever team that gets hm has one less thing to think about. His sideline to side line speed is VERY legit, he will find the ball.

Those types of players are the ones that shrink the field. Hes going to get those batted passes, ints and sacks that close down drives. Kind of like Fred Warner. I love to have to of those guys on the field erasing zone coverage from their speed and instincts.

Why even watch the games. Let's just go with PFF grades

You take the best player available when you are picking this high. You could make a strong case that would be him at 13.
LB is not a need for us. A 6 foot 4 slot corner with elite athleticism sounds good though.
The only case you can make for not selecting him is our depth. Kwon, Warner, and Dre looked really good last year.
If it comes down to getting an elite player at a position of depth or a quality starter at a position of need, I'd prefer the elite personally.

I mean he would be like the cam chancellor of our defense , no offense but if I were to bet money I bet he is better than Tartt or anyone we have at LB, so yes we need a we, but he would make our defense even more unstoppable, we need that for mahomes , you saw what Seattle did to Denver when they had a great defense

Simmons would start over Dre right now. Tartt is a FA after this season. And it's unlikely that all our LBs and DBs stay healthy the entire year.
