Isaiah Simmons Linebacker Clemson

Start at what? Sam LB? Will LB? 49ers have a surplus of good LBs.

The 49ers' scheme wouldn't maximize a guy like this. Saleh's defense is cut and dry. There are no hybrid roles. Everything is structured and clearly defined. That's the entire premise of the defense: keep everything simple so they can play fast.

Kwon is fast but misses a ton of tackles. He can be upgraded.
Dre is good but not elite.

Ward plays a hybrid role and Tartt used to.

Ward does not play a hybrid role. That's incorrect. He literally plays free safety. Tartt doesn't either. He plays strong safety. The 49ers don't have hybrid roles.

We don't know what Simmons will be in the NFL because he wore so many hats in college. What we do know about Kwon and Greenlaw is that they're both damn good NFL LBs.
you cant pick #13 for a rotational guy who might upgrade a position of non-need. just not a real fit for us.

Actually think Brian Urlacher from your neck of the woods is a better comparison.

Depends on the team

If he drops out of the Top 10, and available for the 9ers to pick, do we pick him? He would be my pick.

He gets alot of talk as a LB, be he is more than capable to play S in our defense. Urlacher is a good comp, but I would also say he reminds me of Sean Taylor.

thats the easy comparison, but I don't like it.

Vintage Ulacher removed the middle of the field by playing ALOT of zone....If Simmons has a weakness its playing over the top in zone.

IF he gets to 13 that is a slam dunk, don't think twice pick.

There have been pass rushers taken with less production then he has rushing the passer. His win rate on pass rushes is top tier.

That to me is what makes him unbelievably safe. He has a 36.6% and 41.8% pressure rate the last two years. This combined with a 32% win rate when engaged according to PFF.

Unlike most pass rushers, he is just as valuable in coverage, teams truly do not know when he is coming.

But this is just an absolute pipe dream, the dude is not going to be there when the 49ers pick.
He wont be there. We arent moving up for him, but if he did fall you snatch him up in a heartbeat. Trade 31 for 45 and 76, get Aiyuk and Jordan Elliot and lets go to war.

OBJ and 10 for 13 and 31 if Simmons is somehow still on the board?

Agree 100% on everything you've said here.
Best athlete in this draft.

If he drops out of the top 5, I'd trade up to get him.

Use Tartt, Kwon, Ford etc to get a day 2 pick.
Simmons would definitely make Tartt or Alexander's role expendable. Smart team would bring him in and see just what he is good at in the nfl and go from their.

You could disguise him in nickle as a LB, DE, Slot corner, or outside corner. In each one of those roles he could blitz or drop in coverage. Would give the QB fits.
NO way he's there. Carolina can really use him.....local product, no more Keuchly.
