Isaiah Simmons Linebacker Clemson

The 49ers' scheme wouldn't maximize a guy like this. Saleh's defense is cut and dry. There are no hybrid roles. Everything is structured and clearly defined. That's the entire premise of the defense: keep everything simple so they can play fast.

100% agree with this. While I acknowledge Simmons is a fantastic player, he would be a square peg in a round hole for us. Where exactly do you put him? Not all players are going to be a fit for what we do no matter how much talent they may have. Becton is a mountain of a man. However, for our offense I don't think he fits the quick zone blocking that Kyle runs. Guy is probably a 10 year starter at LT for someone. Just not us. I feel the same about Simmons.

Unlike the offense, we aren't locked into a restrictive scheme. We can make room for a generational player.

That requires a malleable and creative defensive mind. Do you think Saleh is that guy?

If this was the Patriots, I'd feel extremely confident Belichick would be able to maximize Simmons. But this isn't New England and Saleh isn't Belichick.

Last year was proof that he's become more flexible than in years 1 and 2. We ran a lot less cover 3, made lots of in-game adjustments, and ran more wide-9.

Wouldn't surprise me if they brought in another defensive coach to teach more man technique. Especially if we get Henderson or (pray to God) Simmons.
Please fall to 13!

If he where to fall that far you don't pass a player like him up no matter who we got, at the very least you trade down for a premium
While this guy is being slightly overrated imo, I do agree that if he's there you don't pass on him. If you're a DC in the NFL and don't know how to incorporate him into a defense then you shouldn't be a DC. All that said It's moot cause he ain't dropping to 13

Dont see it happening. Who's job does he take? We have 3 good young linebackers that can all run sideline to sideline right now and 3 safeties that are a lock to make the roster.
I don't want this guy to fall to the Cards

That's what I'm scared of.

I'm much more worried they will beef up the oline and give midget 2.0 time. I'm not a draft guru or anything like that but isn't Simmons just a better version of Reddick? That guy went at 13 to the Cards and never did much.
