Isaiah Simmons Linebacker Clemson

Cards had a good defensive game plan and utilized Murry's scrambling ability.

Can't better from the sideline. He's played 45 snaps in 4 games. Cards have no idea how to use him, which is exactly what a bunch of us predicted.

I wouldn't throw in the towel on him. It's way too early. But I think his success hinges more on his coordinator figuring out how to use him moreso than him simply "getting better." He was never going to be just a LB.

not every down? 3rd down only or something?

The more I watch him, he's a finesse DB-like player in a LB"s body. I now think of him more as a S than LB. But unlike someone like Derwin James, he doesn't make those monster big hits and he lacks any of that instinctiveness. Total stay away for me.

He does seem built in a lab to erase TEs though. And man can he move sideline to sideline. So tantalizing, it's like a total deathtrap.

Man, you were so right.
Haha.

Yeah, he doesn't have that instinctive, decisive nature that you look for a linebacker or safety. He's Brandon Browner or a poor mans Kam Chancellor, for better or worse.

The instinctive thing generally shows up from in college tape, in training camp, and in all game film. Remember Chris Borland? It was obvious from Day 1 with him.

He's shown no coverage instincts or ability at this level. He gets juked out of his shorts by NFL TEs and RBs. It's not like he's even getting burned by just WRs. If he can't do that, then how is he supposed to live up to his draft status in any scheme?

Way too early to call him a bust. No preseason, shortened training camp, and adjustment going from college to pro offenses is a big leap for a guy like Simmmons who is raw but talented.

I'm also not the biggest fan of Vance Joseph and his scheme for Simmons.
The Cards have made strides on offense, particularly the passing game. Murray didn't have a good game vs the Panthers, though. It's on defense where they're still challenged. Simmons should become an integral part of that unit's improvement. I really think the Cards need to beef up their DL so guys like Simmons will have more freedom to make plays.
The next Aaron Curry?

Man, I haven't heard that name in a while. Dude was supposed to be one of the most well-rounded linebackers to ever come out of the draft.

Yeah, but I believe AC was misused and was not allowed to develop.. Simmons still young, maybe his great athleticism was used at Clemson and now it's showing that he needs more than that here.. One player who had the same was our very own LB Many Lawson... I really thought he was overrated coming out of NCST

Cardinals don't know how to use or develop LB's, they had the same problem with Hasson Reddick.

This. I bet if he were on this team he'd be a stud. He's too gifted of an athlete. They're abusing him over there
