Hi guys,

I thought id do something slightly different than a mock. Ive been looking at all the players the 49ers have been interviewing and meeting with and wanted to do a breakdown on who I think they will be looking to target and what position they might be looking to draft based on round and where these players are projected to go. Now I am no draft expert so I went with consensus projections from various sites. I think its very telling what the 49ers want to do based on who they've been talking to and where they are projected to go. I am also curious to know what you guys think the 49ers are thinking so please share your thoughts. So without further ado...

Round 1 Pick 13 - I think the 49ers have two targets in mind here between Ruggs III and Lamb. I think the plan is to grab one of the two if they are available to them otherwise the plan will be to trade back and acquire some Day 2 draft capital. IF they trade back I think the pick may still be a WR depending on how far back they go there is several targets they like such as Jefferson, Mims, and Raegor

.Round 1 Pick 31 - This pick I believe the majority of people believe will be a DT replacement for Buckner. I think this is a possibility but not a sure thing, the only person that I believe the 49ers may target here at DT will be Blacklock, possibly Davidson, but he could be had in the 2nd round. I believe this pick can go in a variety of places they could go EDGE with Gross-Matos, OL with Josh Jones and Cleveland, or even a surprise pick at RB with Taylor. This pick will be an interesting one as they are in prime position to get a great trade back offer from a team wanting to get back into the first round, and if the price is right they will certainly capitalize on it as I believe there are several Day 2 picks the 49ers would like to get their hands on.

Round 2 and 3 - So the 49ers traded back and acquired 1-2 Day two picks. I think this is where they will look heavily towards acquiring a DT Davidson, Madubuike, Raekwon Davis (Buckner Build), or Jordan Elliot are the targets here. At LB Malik Harrison is the target, at OL Cushenberry, at EDGE Jenings, and at S Dugger and Davis. I think it will be a combo of a DT and one of the other positions (probably S).

Round 4 - Assuming the 49ers traded back it is likely they will acquire a round 4 pick here. If not they may attempt to trade up to round 4 to acquire someone who may have been expected to go in round 3 or someone they don't think will drop to them in Round 5. The targets I see here are at TE Bryant and Asiasi, EDGE Robinson, Kareem, and Willeckes, LB Pickney, Davis-Gaither, and Bernard, CB Dantzler, and OL Onwenu

Round 5 - I think the 49ers give up one of their two 5th round picks to trade up into the 4th leaving them with one pick. The targets here are at OL Runyan Jr , Adeniji, and Iwuagwu, at CB Barcoo and Ojemudia, at WR Quartney Davis and Collin Johnson

Round 6 - Assuming they didn't package this in a trade up and managed to hold on to their Round 6 pick. I can see them targeting backup competition at S here like Curl, Clemons, Wallace, and Elliot. At CB Barcoo, OL Hinton, DT Murchison, RB Jones Jr. QB Morgan,

Round 7 - Here are the long shots to make the team. At LB Rashad Smith, Harding, and Toohill, OL Hilbers, CB Riley, WR Kinsey, RB Corbin.

UDFA Targets - QB Mason Fine, P Townsend, TE Wood-Andserson, RB Trae Minter, S Torneden and Daniel Thomas
