Try to pick the magic 6 the Niners have targeted at 13. big board for draft day

Supposedly Lynch and Shannahan have 6 players at pick 13 that if available they will not take trade talks and they will draft them. Please list what 6 you think they are talking about in ascending order . My list excludes Burrow, Tua and Chase young as they will not be around at 13.

1. Isiah Simmons defesne S/OLB
2. Jeff Okudah CB
3. Ceede Lamb WR
4. Henry Ruggs WR
5. Andrew Thomas OT
6. Derrick Brown DT

Honestly I like your list
1. Okudah
2. Simmons
3. Wills
4. Wirfs
5. Derrick Brown
6. Lamb
I think if Chase Young is at 13 we would take him

Read the original post. Chase Young is not on the table for the big 6. Of Course you would run to click the mouse to select Young. This scenario is realistic, Chase Young will not be on the draft board at pick 13.

But Simmons and Okudah will be?

Okudah has been projected to go pick 3 the pick after Young

Tend to agree, those two are long gone as well. I think Wirfs and Wills are gone too. I guess the question is it 6 overall foundational players, or 6 players that have a realistic shot of being at 13. When you're taking about the 2 best OL, the best CB, and arguably the best defensive player in the draft, I don't think they'll be around at 13.
Why would we exclude players who obviously would be in those top 6?

Kinda my point. Lynch said "6 foundational players" he didnt say not including Young and Burrow cause they will be long gone.

I imagine the 6 are

Young
Wills
Thomas
Simmons
Okudah
Burrow
Young
Kinlaw
Thomas
Okudah
Simmons
Ruggs
Andrew Thomas
Isiah Simmons
Derrick Brown
Jeddrick Willis
Jeff Okudah
Javon Kinlaw

Yep...don't think the braintrust believes any of the WR's expected to go early are foundational players...I agree. I like Justin Jefferson in the 1st rd, but not at #13. Would also be ok w/CB Terrell.
1.CJ Henderson
2.CeeDee Lamb
3.Andrew Thomas
4.Henry Ruggs
5.Jeff Okudah
6.Jerry Jeudy

Okudah is mocked at 3 because people are lazy and dumb. Nowhere near the level as guys like Woodson, Ramsey, and Peterson as prospects coming out. Only mocked to 3 because that is the most obvious need for Detroit. He also had Chase Young rushing the passer in front of him. CJ Henderson will be the better pro. He will also fare better with consistently being targeted if he happens to play across from a guy like Richard Sherman, idk how Okudah would respond. CJ just seems to challenge the ball and the route better which, although I don't know for sure how he would respond either, his aggression and awareness leads me to believe he would take advantage.

Henderson would make the most impact so he's my 1. He would start opposite Sherman before moving over in 1 or 2 years. This would also help the 49ers re-sign both Witherspoon and Moseley if they still see potential. Less snaps, not much good tape, equals low to mid salary. At the least they would/should be able to re-sign 1 of them in this scenario.

Lamb is a guy Shanahan could use any way in his scheme. He wouldn't have to give him a Goodwin type role until he learns more like he would with a guy like Ruggs. Good Size, Good Speed, Good Routes, Good Hands, Good Awareness. My only knock on these guys is for being such a loaded class not one has really separated themselves as being special.

Thomas could play RG in year 1. Before moving to LT in a year or 2. 49ers seem high on Brunskill, but always seem to mention he can play all 5 positions. With Richburg not being able to get through a year healthy, Thomas would allow the 49ers to play Brunskill at center and Thomas at guard. I wholeheartedly believe you give KS a Top 5 o-line and a QB who can run his offense and he has the best offense year in and year out.

With Kittle, Samuel, and Kyle's run game, Henry Ruggs could provide a dynamic piece to the puzzle. The willingness to move on from the speedy Goodwin, plus meetings and rumors may be an indication the 49ers would take Ruggs at 13 if the board falls a certain way.

I know I knocked him earlier but that was more about being the #3 pick than his overall talent. He should be a solid corner in the NFL but I don't see anything really special with him. To me he will be a good to really good #2 or a solid #1. I just don't see a shutdown, ballhawking, playmaker in him, and that's what you need to go 3rd. I think #9 to JAX is a good spot and fit. If he's on the board at #13 though, heck why not, but only if CJ is gone already.

Jerry Jeudy. Good player, going to consistently produce in the NFL, I just think Kyle looks at the other guys and believes he can get more production based off their traits.

No DT's. Just look at the 49ers roster. Way to many snaps already allocated to the d-line. Armstead and Thomas will both see plenty of snaps at 3T. Then there is DJ Jones, Kentavius Street, and Jullian Taylor. Thomas may not get much pass rush from the edge because duh, not his play-type or athletic-type, but he will get pressures 1v1 on the interior. Most importantly he is a good run stopper, who will take snaps this year surrounded by Bosa, Armstead, and Ford. The 49ers were high on Street and Taylor also. Long term outlook as well, Thomas is considered a bust for being taken 3rd, even though he is solid against the run and can create pressure on the interior, teams won't be lining up to pay him big money in FA. 49ers will probably be able to decline his 5th year option but re-sign him to a mid to low tier contract and get more production than the contract's value.

This is important because the 49ers are going to have to allocate big money to DB's and OL in the next couple years or hit those positions in the draft, while also shelling out for Kittle and Bosa who have already proven themselves franchise cornerstones and guys like Warner who have everything you want in a LB besides more exp. Paying star players on a talented roster means you need low to mid tier FA's/Re-signs to outproduce their contracts while also hitting on your draft picks.

So much more goes into these picks rather than just BPA. It's always BPA.....that hits this, that, and the other criteria for specific teams.

Side note: You're the 49ers GM.
Burrow goes 1. The Dolphins trade up to 2 to get Tua. Simmons goes 3 to Detroit.

Do you give Gettleman a call and try and trade #13 and #31 for the 4th pick to draft Chase Young?
