Tired of taking a WR in the first round talks

We are not a spread em out and chuck offense, rather the COMPLETE opposite. We play 21 Personnel (2 RB's, 2 WR's, 1 TE) over 40% of the time (2nd highest team was in the 20%) so it's not like we are going to change our offense overnight. I get it, we lost Sanders, but the most important aspect of losing him was his blocking rather than his receiving in this offense. He caught 36 passes in 10 regular season games for the 49ers. I would be really surprised if we select any of the 3 WR's in the first round, as we technically already got a 3rd round WR this year (Jalen Hurd) in which he redshirted last year with injury. There's a good chance we select a WR in the mid rounds after some trades, but having Hurd/Samuel/Bourne/bringing back Taylor in the slot/potentially Pettis along with Kittle at TE (and potentially adding another TE) is a formidable group for our offense that we run. It's the same exact offense that DOMINATED in the playoffs and led to the Super Bowl. I'd rather take K'Lavon Chaisson as a potential replacement for Ford. Our D was elite with Ford in the lineup vs. good when he was hurt, and he cannot ever seem to be healthy for a full year. Bring in Chaisson and let Kocurek do his magic with this Aldon Smith clone. And yes, I'm a diehard Niner fan, but I do not want us to waste a first round pick on a WR, especially if we stay at 13.

You're not alone...seems we get this banter just about every off-season. Yet, no WR's have been taken in the 1st rd of the Lynch/Shanahan era. That could change this year, but unless our braintrust sees someone like Justin Jefferson (LSU) as a foundational player, my guess is they'll take a different position player. It could be DT, OT, pass rusher, who knows. JL/KS said today if none of their @ 6 foundational players are there at #13, they'd be open to trading down. I got the distinct impression they don't consider the alleged top 3 WR's as foundational players. They'll have suitors...like Denver, for example. Elway wants one of the top WR's...and would trade w/Lynch to move up 2 spots to get one if he can't swing a deal to get into the top 10. Doing that is costly, though, which could equate to several teams willing to trade w/Niners at #13. Hang in there...what mocksters say and what reality is will be two different things. Bank it.

And hes still not too much like Clowney lol

That's quite a high remark if you're comparing Chaisson's college tape to Clowney's college tape. Maybe Chaisson should be the first pick as well then.

Nah. I would like him don't get me wrong. But his rush technique is really raw.

What I meant was that Chaissons tape reminds me of Clowney in that he doesn't need to rush well to make plays. Hes very physical in the run game and good in space.

I like Zuniga a lot more and he won't cost nearly as much draft capital.

I have been hoping for WR all along at 13, but I would also be happy with Kinlaw, one of the top OTs, Chaisson and maybe even Henderson. Any of those dudes would improve our team.

what I don't understand is how someone could watch the 49ers last year and legitimately think we don't need a WR lol

You do understand we have Jalen Hurd & Trent Taylor coming back next season, correct? That's technically 2 WR's who didn't play one single snap of offense during the 2019 season. As fast as Deebo is, Hurd actually ran the 40 a tad faster than Deebo, (4.48 & 4.47) time while being 4 inches and 15 lbs heavier. I get it, Hurd hasn't stepped on the field yet, but for a player who the Niners took in the 3rd round last year in which it was his FIRST year playing WR after playing RB his entire college career speaks volume to what Shanahan see's in him.

There's a reason Hurd was a starting RB ahead of Alvin Kamara at Tennessee early on before transferring, dude has some serious talent once he gets coached up. Not saying we don't need a WR, it's never enough to add depth to the roster (along with extra competition bringing the best out of others) but I'm not wanting a WR in the first round with other needs on the roster.

Hurd missed his entire rookie season, has proven absolutely nothing in the NFL. I like Taylor a lot but he hasn't been healthy in two years. If those guys don't come through then you're one Deebo injury away from having by far the worst receiving corps in the NFL.

Tired of people continuing to count on Hurd and Taylor. As if u can guarantee they will even be healthy.

Which current player or draft pick can you guarantee will be healthy? Taylor looks like possibly an ongoing problem but Hurd had an injury. The team will know by now if he will be back or not this year.
I feel sorry for all the people who will go nuts if #13 is not their desired WR (and even more if this playeris still available).
Trade down, take Jefferson.
Trade down again, take Diggs.

Day 2 is all about the hogmollies.
See Jimmy's numbers before and after acquiring Sanders.
