Grade 49ers 1st Round in the 2020 Draft!

Grade 49ers 1st Round in the 2020 Draft!

Traded: 13 and 245 to Tampa Bay for 14 and 117
Drafted at 14: Javon Kinlaw DT South Carolina
Traded: 31, 117, and 176 to Minnesota for 25
Drafted at 25: Brandon Aiyuk WR Arisona St

Picks remaining: Day 2: none. Day 3: #156 (Rd 5), #210 (Rd 6), #217 (Rd 7)
I give the Kinlaw pick an B+, the Aiyuk pick a B-, and the trade up a C-, let's call it a B-.

Doesnt matter though just gotta hit the picks. WR no matter what has a massive bust rate. Just gotta shoot your shot

Changed my grades.

B.

Kinlaw. Not overly in love. Concerned about the knee. At least its a D-Lineman in the SEC and he plays in a man's conference, so he won't be a softie like Solomon Thomas.

Aiyuk. I like the pick since at least Kyle finally drafted a f**kin 1st round receiver. But not a fan of the trade up.
B for today. If we can trade some trash and get some day 2 picks I will be very happy.
I like the players and, the move back would have given them an A, but moving up dropped it to an A-, I know if someone you like is there you get them, but I am not certain if the niners had to move up because one of the teams between 25 and 31 would have drafted him. Still there were some teams that drafted CB earlier than I thought they would, so you never know.
first trade: A+ (small move but a great one)
Kinlaw: B+ (solid pick, very promising player but we spent a premium pick on a non-premium position)
second trade: F (trading up is always dubious, this trade illustrates why)
Aiyuk: B (like the player, like the fit, but he was nowhere near the best player available)

Overall, arbitrarily, I'll say B-
A-

Both picks fit so well in our scheme.

Trading away that much hurts but we're back as a top 3 team in the NFL imo.

B+

Positive:
Good draft so far, Kinlaw is a freak. I can't imagine what opposing OLs are going do with Bosa and Kinlaw. No living person can block him one on one if he's coached up right. So who are are you going to double team Bosa or Kinlaw?

Negative:
I don't really like the move up to draft Aiyuk. I think our biggest need is QB. If we were to move up the draft and gain major value than the pick should've been Love not Aiyuk. Jacob Fromm is still available. He doesn't have all the tangibles that you look for in a qb, but he definitely has that "it" factor that Brady had. I just hope he's still available by the time we draft.

Are you being sarcastic? I can't tell....
It's an F if it's about what I wanted.

Otherwise I give it a B.

No I'm not. Jimmy is a fine qb. Is he SB winning QB? I'm not sure. I think he's too inconsistent and erratic. We can do better.
I give it a B+.

Kinlaw I'm excited about, mans a wrecking ball.

Aiyuk is a baller and perfect fit and fills a position of need.

In essence we got Dee Ford for tomorrows picks.

So that's 3 solid players in first 3 rounds.
I'll take it.

Hopefully some trades can net us IOL.

CB and TE can be had in free agency once we make some trades and cuts.

After the playoffs and Super Bowl I kind of agree, but we need to upgrade our OL for me to fully start looking for his replacement. I hope we can upgrade our C and RG in this draft. I was rooting to move back and grab OL (or even two!) in the first round. Oh well.

With trades and all I give this draft a grade of a solid B- to a B. If we could have avoided trading up and still got our players it would have been an A- for me. I think both will pan out to be really good players but I'm hoping all-pro with the amount of picks we have.
Two impact players with the first 2 picks. Happy with that.

Shanahan did call plays like he didn't trust Jimmy G ... so this year we should find out how good he is.
If Kyle starts throwing the ball deep more and Garopolo does well than he is the one.
If Kyle doesn't open up and throw more down the field than you might be right we may need a QB.
