Grade 49ers 1st Round in the 2020 Draft!

Grade 49ers 1st Round in the 2020 Draft!

I wish we would have taken Wirfs and let him play guard until Staley retires. Jimmy needs better protection and now they have no picks on day 2. I like Kinlaw and he may end up being as good or better than Buckner and Aiyuk is probably a good replacement for Sanders. I agree with Maddog that Mims might have been a better choice because he gives you a little more size but Kyle knows the type of receiver he wants. So in the end we have what we had last year except younger and cheaper. I don't think we got better.

I gave it a B. The upside of Kinlaw is undeniable and Aiyuk was my number 5 ranked wr (love the kid for this offense). For me the picks on my board would have been Lamb and if the niners would have stayed put at 31, Ezra Cleveland. I technically had Johnathan Taylor ranked higher than Cleveland but I would say this team needs a tackle far more than a rb right now. I would have been happy with Winfield as well at 31. I think he's another player that has flown under the radar a little too much in this draft. I'm happy with the players we got though and they should fit very well in this team's schemes.

I grade the 1st round a solid B+

I loved the way the draft started, it was my dream scenario. Trade back from 13 and take Kinlaw, while adding an extra 3rd or 4th. After that, I was expecting to either trade back from 31 and gather extra pick(s) or pick a WR, CB or OT at the 31 spot. With that said, I was pretty shocked to see the trade up to pick Aiyuk, who admittedly, I didn't know much about. We gave up a ton to move down and draft this kid and this drafts grade really falls on his shoulders.

After doing my research, the more I like this Aiyuk kid and his fit with this squad. If he turns out to be a stud, then the move was GREAT and the draft was GREAT. If he turns out to be a dud, then it will hurt us in the future. I think we could've handled the draft a bit more conservatively, but I fully trust John and Kyle and if they believe Aiyuk was the missing piece, then I applaud them for making the play to make sure we got him.

I think we can all agree Kinlaw is going to be a straight savage for years to come. I don't know if he will be better or worse then Buck, but he was the right pick to make at the given time and I believe, at the very worst, we got ourselves a solid starter for a long time.

Like I said, this draft falls on Aiyuk shoulders and given that, I give it a solid B+. In a few years, I can see myself looking back and re-grading it A+++

GO 9ERS!!!!

Kinlaw is a really good player. He is very talented. I had him 22nd overall on my board. He has some injury issues in the past that need to be monitored. He has a great backstory of overcoming tough odds. These are all positive aspects to the player and pick.

However, when you have the best player on the board at the most important position of need, you pull the trigger. You don't play cute. The Niners need a wideout who you line up against their best CB and beats that player. No gimmick, no trickery. Just flat out wins. That is Ceedee Lamb. This is a lost opportunity.

You have to respect the Cowboys. They didn't need another star wide receiver. They needed defensive help. But, there was no way they were passing on Lamb when he dropped to them. Talent wins over everything else. The Niners had the opportunity to match talent and need, and flopped.

As for Aiyuk, he is a nice WR. A good WR. However, there were better wide receivers on the board (Mims, Pittman), and the team didn't need to sacrifice three picks to pick up a player at his talent level. We really could have used those extra mid-round picks.

As for me, I picked Lamb and Josh Jones, who will be a starting LT in the NFL. Would have been equally thrilled with Lamb and Winfield. The key player is Lamb. We were too cute, and therefore a lost opportunity.

like Kinlaw quite a bit, i think he'll flourish in this front. I do agree on Lamb, I admit was disappointed they did not select him. Aiyuk is fine but it seems that they didn't need to trade up, therefore wasted those additional picks. Seems like they get panicky or antsy, rather than let the draft come to them. If Aiyuk went before 31, they were still left with Mims or Pittman as you said.
Kinlaw is scary looking dude, hope it translates on the field. Aiyuk? Haven't seen that much of him but the schemes in College Football favor the spread offenses which run wild. I score a B, Kinlaw has such talent around him he should excel.

I gave it a slightly better grade than MD did and people were all upset at me. lol
Aiyuk is a tremendous threat and very much like Deebo. He's 6', 205 and is a sensational punt and kickoff returned. He has the incredible wingspan of 81" at only 6'. For comparison, Calvin Johnson was 6'5" with an 82" wingspan. He can score from anywhere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9o0-eFWtNUQ

... just my opinion... I like the players but can't help and look at it this way.. THE ONLY WAY..

We traded Bucko who most fans here see him as a SUPERSTAR for Kinlaw..

Then we gave up picks including the ones to Denver for the stupid Sanders signing for Aiyuk..

to make a long story short, we gave up a bunch of picks and two proven players to go CHEAP in salary..

Exactly how you win long term in the salary cap era

I wasn't very high on the Kinlaw pick. Really wanted Ceedee. But after watching a lot of videos and articles people have posted I'm okay with it.

Love love love the Aiyuk pick. Part of the reason I was upset with Kinlaw is after Ceedee Aiyuk was the only WR I wanted and didn't think we realistically had a shot at him at #31. This dude is stud. People who are hating on the pick or suggesting people like Pitamn or Mims are going to be the same or better are in for a huge surprise this year.

Didn't trade Buck cuz they didn't want him. Aiyuk will have better first season for SF than Sanders had last year. They did give up too much to get Aiyuk, that baffles me. 3 picks to move up 6 spots. Should a been 31 plus 5th or stay put and grab Mims if Aiyuk if is gone.
Two starters, so it's a A- for me.

and I AGREE... but will you be happy for the team under a good salary cap if Kinlaw and Aiyuk turn out to be as good as Solomon and Pettis ??
Assuming no more changes to our dline wow:

Bosa
Armstead
Kinlaw

That's a damn good rotation then our skill players on offense:

Mostert
Deebo
Kittle
Juice
Bourne
Aiyuk
Breida
Coleman
McKinnon

Oline is on my mind now.
