Rooting for this kid to pull a Eli Manning. The #1 and #3 pay difference isn't that much and coming to a stacked team as a rookie with an offensive guru gives him a greater chance of having a successful career right off the bat. Not many SB contenders holds a top 3 pick every year. Make a business decision Trevor!!

Lol imagine how Urban Meyer would feel🤣

Good Luck Urban.

I'm sure you'll be able to get on at Tennessee or Texas in a couple years.

Somebody give me a GIF of Urban running back to college.
Trevor has always been like this. Everybody in the family says that off the football field, Marissa, who played soccer at Division II Anderson University, is more competitive than he is. His father says, "He's not award-driven. He's not, 'I want to win a Super Bowl at all costs.' " Trevor's coach at Cartersville High, Joey King, says, "There is no doubt about it: With who he is as a person, he could walk away from it tomorrow and be fine." Others who know Lawrence well agree.

Wow even if that were true why the hell would they say that knowing the draft is so close??

Maybe they secretly want him to be a niner

Character and work ethic problems are reserved for players of a certain... hue.

Which is why Cam Newton didn't go #1 in his draft class? Teams will overlook character to an extent if the talent is there. Just how the 49ers went and drafted Foster despite numerous glaring bright red flags.

These comments from Lawrence are definitely a bit disconcerting. Not enough to turn a team away based on his body of work and level of pure talent but its definitely something to make you wonder just how dedicated he'll be if the losses start to pile up and the hits keep coming constantly.

Cam stole a laptop when he was a freshman... not a biggie. The same people say getting a DUI isnt a biggie. What other issues did Cam have?

He still went #1 in spite of having been charged with three felonies. JaMarcus Russell went #1 despite lingering questions about his work ethic. It was pretty clear that he put little to no effort into watching film as he was constantly confused on where to go with the football but hey, big arm, athleticism, big body, he was a #1.

In the end, talent>>>>>>everything else. If you're good enough, teams will overlook plenty in the hope of landing a premiere talent.

Oh without a doubt, no argument there. But more often than not, certain players work ethic or character issues never come up but others do.

If you're not seen as a premium talent, people will hold more stuff against you and grade you more harshly. It you're seen as a top prospect with potential game-changing abilities, teams let all kinds of stuff slide and always will.

Did you ever hear that Jamarcus Russell story where they sent him home with a DVD with 10 plays? They told him to pick out 3 that he liked best and they would impliment them in practice the next day.

He comes back the next day and they ask him what plays he liked, and he responds that he loved them all. They asked if he was sure, he said yeah. They then explained that they gave him a blank DVD and just wanted to see if he would bother watching it.
