Did you ever hear that Jamarcus Russell story where they sent him home with a DVD with 10 plays? They told him to pick out 3 that he liked best and they would impliment them in practice the next day.
He comes back the next day and they ask him what plays he liked, and he responds that he loved them all. They asked if he was sure, he said yeah. They then explained that they gave him a blank DVD and just wanted to see if he would bother watching it.
That dude gave zero f**ks about anything. He was just happy being big, fat and cashing an NFL check on the old rookie contract..

I feel bad for some of these guys. A lot grow up in poor neighborhoods with terrible schools. They dont learn anything except how to play sports and they've been getting 100 dollar handouts since they were 10... now you're 21 and you get a 50 million dollar signing bonus. Hell, I would go nuts too.

Cam stole a laptop when he was a freshman... not a biggie. The same people say getting a DUI isnt a biggie. What other issues did Cam have?
He still went #1 in spite of having been charged with three felonies. JaMarcus Russell went #1 despite lingering questions about his work ethic. It was pretty clear that he put little to no effort into watching film as he was constantly confused on where to go with the football but hey, big arm, athleticism, big body, he was a #1.
In the end, talent>>>>>>everything else. If you're good enough, teams will overlook plenty in the hope of landing a premiere talent.
Oh without a doubt, no argument there. But more often than not, certain players work ethic or character issues never come up but others do.
Jameous Winston stole crab legs and yelled the N word on top of a table in the cafeteria I think Lawrence will be fine lol

If you're not seen as a premium talent, people will hold more stuff against you and grade you more harshly. It you're seen as a top prospect with potential game-changing abilities, teams let all kinds of stuff slide and always will.

I think the end of the story was that during the Holidays, he finally called back his coaches and told them the they gave him a couple of CDs and they were blank, that it was not the CD that they had given him early in the year..

danggggggg !!!
Jamarcus Russell was an amazing prospect. No one could have predicted what would have happened in the NFL. It wasnt for lack of talent. Seriously, YouTube his college highlights. The man was amazing.
There is a Sports Illustrated article that basically gives the impression after talking to Trevor, his father, and high school coach that he isn't that motivated to play football. He could walk away from it. He won't do everything to win a Super Bowl. He doesn't have a chip on his shoulder, and he doesn't want one. He would like to be the best QB ever, though. The problem is that the NFL is full of people with a psychological obsession about playing football. Those coming out of college that don't share that passion, tend to not succeed. Kwame Harris of the 49ers would be one example.
Now, Trevor is so good that even without giving 100% he might still have some success in the NFL. But he won't be great. In addition, the QB is a leader of the locker room. Do you want a leader that sets an example of not giving 100% to the rest of the team? In theory, Trevor will bring the rest of the team down, and result in a completely underperforming team.
From what I have heard Urban Meyer is all about football. He isn't going to like having a QB that is not all in, and for that reason he may right now be having second thoughts about Trevor Lawrence.
Bad news for 49er fans? I could easily see Urban Meyer settling on Justin Fields instead. I hope I am wrong.
P.S. The best thing that could happen to Trevor Lawrence would be to have an Aaron Rodger fall. That might give him the chip that he was missing.

I don't bet. What does -100,000 mean?
It means you'd need to put up $100,000 to win $100. As in, it's a terrible bet to make, but it shows the confidence the public has in Lawrence going #1.
