There is a Sports Illustrated article that basically gives the impression after talking to Trevor, his father, and high school coach that he isn't that motivated to play football. He could walk away from it. He won't do everything to win a Super Bowl. He doesn't have a chip on his shoulder, and he doesn't want one. He would like to be the best QB ever, though. The problem is that the NFL is full of people with a psychological obsession about playing football. Those coming out of college that don't share that passion, tend to not succeed. Kwame Harris of the 49ers would be one example.

Now, Trevor is so good that even without giving 100% he might still have some success in the NFL. But he won't be great. In addition, the QB is a leader of the locker room. Do you want a leader that sets an example of not giving 100% to the rest of the team? In theory, Trevor will bring the rest of the team down, and result in a completely underperforming team.

From what I have heard Urban Meyer is all about football. He isn't going to like having a QB that is not all in, and for that reason he may right now be having second thoughts about Trevor Lawrence.

Bad news for 49er fans? I could easily see Urban Meyer settling on Justin Fields instead. I hope I am wrong.

P.S. The best thing that could happen to Trevor Lawrence would be to have an Aaron Rodger fall. That might give him the chip that he was missing.

Sounds like a ploy to avoid playing for the Jags.
The guy making the 1st pick has quit multiple times too so they'll make a perfect team.
I mean... If we're including Trevor Lawrence there are definitely 3 QBs I would be thrilled to draft. So there isn't anything that any other team can do that scares me.

There's only what Kyle can do that scares me.....

He's as much of a lock as it's going to get. Jacksonville has already given him a playbook. He's going #1.

Also this could have gone in the existing Lawrence thread.

Yup. Myers talk to him about when he should get his surgery and post recovery PT.
I was blown away at his domination again Alabama as a freshman. He doesn't seem much better now. He would have gone number one if draft eligible after his freshman year. When everyone is constantly fawning over you it is hard to have a chip. You want a guy that takes losing hard, and will do what it takes to rarely feel the pain of losing.

I can't imagine that he doesn't go number 1. It would ruin your career if he ends up a stud. If he doesn't and you take him nobody will second guess the decision.
I guess they don't negotiate with rookies prior to the draft because this is a situation where locking them into a contract before the draft would be appropriate.
I do remember people being very sure of themselves that Darnold would go #1 to the Browns. And they ended up taking Baker.

But that being said, Urban already pretty much said its Trevor. They arent even trying to look at other guys.

Lawrence is the most complete prospect since Luck and is more of a lock to go #1 than every other QB picked at 1 since.

Nice edit. I was confused by your original response.

Probably worth deleting this thread anyway. There is no chance Lawrence isnt going first unless he accompanied Deshaun to the massage parlors.
