THE TREVOR LOTTERY

He is very impressive. I don't generally join in the can't miss, future HoFer, BS but in his first year with Clemson he looked like an NFL qb. It looked as though you could just plug him in and play. Looking, as he does, like a finished product worries me a little that there may not be much development potential there but that would be a coaching issue. I don't think any franchise who picks him up will regret doing so. But, as Andrew Luck showed, what happens from then onwards remains to be seen. I hope he isn't picked up and wasted.

Jets are a mess from the ownership down.

People always say this stuff and we see team after team turn things around with the right HC and especially the right QB. Look at the Chiefs, Titans, Bucs, 49ers, Rams and others. Gase is human arsenic as a HC. Take him away, get a solid up and coming coach, add a QB and a few weapons and suddenly you're looking at a much better team.
Going to pull a Manning and return for his senior year. He's got his fiancé there too. Involved in church locally... enjoys the campus too. Dude is staying I feel

The Jets have been trash for a long time. Those playoff teams with Revis were an aberration. Trash organization not unlike the Browns.

Nah, you come out when you're healthy and KNOW youre the #1 pick. He's already won, probably winning again.

A poor college kid can't help his community and charities anywhere near the amount a rich NFL #1 draft pick QB can.

If the Jets get #1, I can see them going after Joe Brady as their next HC. Joe Brady with Trevor Lawrence could potentially turn that team around.

It would be comedic seeing Jets fans reaction if he did stay though.

Hate to really derail this thread, but why does Gase keep getting jobs?? Dude sucks!!! s**tty attitude, not a leader at all, doesn't look like a coach who'll turn your franchise around at all.

Cause Peyton Manning endorsed him back in the day and said he was a brilliant offensive mind.

As bad as the Jets ownership and front office is, I could see them passing on Lawrence and picking another QB. There's a reason that team hasn't won a SB since the 60's.

I do think he's a brilliant offensive mind but he's not cut out to be a HC, much like Norv Turner. Gase is a guy who grew up as a coach, he never played the game, even in high school he was a film study nerd. I think he's got the X's and O's stuff down pat he just can't relate to his players and doesn't have the necessary leadership ability to run a locker room. He'll have no trouble getting another OC job, he'll just never be a HC again.

I think for the Jets, going from Gase to a guy like Bieniemy, a former NFL player that knows how a locker room should run and has years of experience working under Andy Reid would be a logical hire.

I could also totally see this scenario happening, especially with Brady now having a year as an NFL OC under his belt. He's only 30 but already has a considerably impressive resume with his work with Burrows and his time with New Orleans under Sean Payton and now Matt Rhule.

That's the problem. Too logical for the Jets. Watching the draft all those years when it was in NY, I remember hearing their fans groaning and trying to figure out why they made a pick.

Because much of the time they had garbage tier GM's. I think Joe Douglas was a solid hire and the Lawrence pick is too obvious for any franchise to pass up on. At this point, trying to make Darnold happen is only a recipe for continued losing and I think Douglas realizes that. They do have a bunch of draft picks to work with so if they can hire a top tier offensive coach like a Bieniemy or a Joe Brady, draft Lawrence and then spend the rest of the draft shoring up their OL, WR's and adding some edge rushers, they could be in a much better spot a season from now and poised for a turn around in a couple of years.
JETS aint signing Brady, they already have their eyes on Sleeping w/Bienemy... They gonna want Trevor w/a coach who's very aggressive when it comes to play calling.. especially with Trevor.. he must not be held back.. he's like Peyton in that sense, throw him into the fire because he will absorb everything that happens right in front of him..

As for Darnold, theres a GM that that believed he should have been the 1st overall pick and not Baker... the GM is in Las Vegas and will most likely use a 2nd for Darnold..
