Kyle loved Josh Allen. Trey Lance is essentially Josh Allen-lite in many ways. He has the talent to be special, and he can sit for a year or two behind Jimmy. I think this is their guy.

Nah I think this makes it less likely to be Lance. Remember Lance was a coin toss between being the 4th or 5th best QB in this draft... then he has a pro day and now all of a sudden he is top 3? That's all hype. At the end of the Season before all the smoke screens it was Lawrence, Fields and Wilson as the top 3. I still think it's that way in NFL circles. Lance is getting hyped up because he is the pro day smoke screen that happens every year. He has too many uncertainties in his game to justify the 3rd pick in the draft. He's also the least accurate of the top 5... that's the #1 thing needed in a QB.

Josh Allen was crazy inaccurate at Wyoming how that turn out? Allen had a lot of uncertainties as well
Kyle wants his Steve Young it seems. Lance could fit the mould.

Maybe...because I don't see Fields being drafted this high. I see Fields 2nd or 3rd Rd pick from the games I watched.
Apparently they were in discussions with the Bengals about trading. That tells me it's probably Jones or Lance. But who knows? Now is the fun speculation time.

Holy s**t, this throw is f**king crazy lol. It didn't count, but god damn, the ball placement is insane. This looks like Brett Favre.

Why is that? everything I'm reading is Fields is the one that's suppose to drop?
Trey Lance was recruited by Ivy League schools Brown and Cornell for whatever that's worth.

Yeah, I've heard that, but there's also the scheme match. Jones is a doppelgänger for the archetype Shanahan QB, and most people had him going late 10s, early teens.

As for Lance, he ran a lot of play-action.
Gimme Zach or Trey lezzgoooo
One other reason I think it's likely Jones is Shanahan's comments about risk associated with first round QBs. Most people say Jones is a high floor, low ceiling guy.
Okay someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Lynch and co did no attend Lance's pro day??? Where any scouts there??

By the logic we aren't drafting right? Pundits say its not Fields since he didn't have a prod day yet....

I know we had someone at Mac Jones pro day.

This tells me nobody knows jack sh... lol

Don't forget Kyle has worked directly with Fields at a QB camp, that might have been enough.

I love Lance, but that's a mighty steep price to pay to gamble on a 1 year FCS starter.
This at least takes the mystery of where they are going with their first pick. Instead of 4 possible positions, it's now just one.

Allen has been the exception not the rule. If Lance could do the same then that is great... but changing an opinion about a player because of a pro day is a fool's errand. I still consider hip a top 5 QB... but he's 4th or 5th which doesnt justify being picked at #3 when there are so many questions unanswered about his game.

But I wouldnt fault anyone for liking him... hell I was enamored by him after his proday but then I compared his games to that of Fields and Jones and it leaves allot to be desired when you look at anticipation, pocket presence and ball placement when he hits his receiver. He's incredibly raw and risky but he also has the highest of ceilings.

I don't put much stock into that. Kyle probably doesn't even remember the kid. There are dozens of highly touted prospects coming through that camp every single year.

But I totally agree with your risk assessment on Lance. That's literally what's keeping me from loving the guy. Overall, there are things I like about all the top QBs, so whichever direction they go in, I'll be excited. There's no Jameis Winston or Sam Darnold in this group, 2 guys that grossed me the hell out.
