He actually does go through multiple reads. The thing is NDSU's offense is super simple. They run a lot of mirrored, pick-a-side concepts. I think I see what other people see now. The guy definitely has the traits you want in a QB. I just wish he was playing right now.

The tape for this guy is so hard to find, but I've finally found some. I'm really liking what I've seen so far. Love his decision-making. The dude has a rocket arm and can create and extend with his legs. He's definitely a sleeper pick for Shanny. I could see him liking Trey Lance.
I don't like is that he tries to plow over defenders. It makes me cringe watching him run over defenders. Don't do that in the NFL.

He has a lot of similarities to Carson Wentz. Similar passers and athletes although the Eagles are in the process of completely ruining Wentz right now.
Due to COVID, we missed out on what assuredly would have been an outstanding matchup between Oregon and NDSU early this season. That game could have cranked up the Lance hype to a whole other level.

It's very "easy" to say he's similar to Wentz, but it's true. Lance is a better athlete, but just straight up QBing it's very similar.
I would have zero issues taking Lance. I think Kyle could turn him into a stud.

The young man is big and tough it appears. Since he had offers to play safety or LB for P5 schools, that says a lot about his mentality.
Also after watching the Saints game this past weekend, and Taysom Hill's effectiveness on that game, has me warming up to Lance more and more everyday since. Every time the Saints don't have Brees at QB, they morph into this tough defensive team with strong run game, play action and roll out passing offense. I seen it with Bridgewater and now Hill, Saints are a harder team to lay against and frankly they mimic how the 49ers play when hitting on all cylinders. I LOVE IT!!!

Yeah and Lance is just a better QB than Hill overall.
Hill needs to work in those check downs to Alvin....need it for fantasy!

Yes, this is what I've been feeling as well. As I've said, he's raw and definitely would need time and patience learning this system, but he does a lot of the things Shanahan likes in QBs. Depending on the off-season interviews/combine, I would not be surprised to see Shanahan's QB board be: Lawrence/Wilson/Lance/Jones

Just finished watching that. Not really too impressive, I think he's closer to 6'1" than he is 6'3".. probably a high 4.5 low 4.6. Arm and mechanics look fine, but he's playing against trash competition. Almost all those throws were to wide open receivers. He does seem to have good touch on the deep ball.
With as much as yall have been talking about him, I expected to see something special. Justin Fields does what he does at a higher level against better competition.
You're absolutely right about Justin Fields tape is very impressive and should be drafted over Lance. He looks like he understands defenses and route combinations more than Lance at this stage, but he also has a lot more talent around him.
But what excites me about Lance is the deep ball accuracy and arch (similar to Russel Wilson) combined obviously with his athleticism. I like that he's comfortable behind center and good on play action.
I think of a guy like Josh Allen who many of us hated his tape myself included. But the physical traits were there. He just had to be molded in the NFL and now he's playing like an MVP because he was drafted in the right situation.
I had Mahomes higher than Watson but thought Watson wouldn't be that good. I'm not always right and QB scouting is not my strength.
I admit when I'm wrong and I might be this time.
I don't think he drops to the 2nd but if that happened, it would be the greatest thing to happen to our franchise in this godforsaken season.
I love what he brings to the table. However outside of the top 3 guys, Jimmy likely stays next year. If Nick Mullens or even CJ Beathard could be counted on, I'd have no qualms rolling with either and Lance or some other rookie QB next year. With that said, Jimmy is good enough where some team will want him. I just want the full potential of Kyle's playbook and our playmakers, literally at every position including fullback unlocked.

Lance got big potential but how could you possibly say he's better than Hill right now ?

Because I don't think Taysom Hill is a very good QB.

He can be a whole lot better than Hill who is in that Mullens honeymoon phase where there isn't enough game film on a QB for defenses to bother. If he has to start for an extended period of time, they'll catch up to him.

There is no way to say that Lance will be a better pro than Hill right now lol. If the 49ers draft him I hope he I hope can be. One thing is for sure, the Saints better hope Hill is the man because starting next season he might be handed the keys.

Lol Taysom Hill, let's not act like they played a good team. They played the freaking falcons

Probably. Or he might be pretty good . He's actually proven it in a game . Looked like a mobile past his prime Brees last game though. Very similar in the pocket. And I 100 percent get your logic, we see it happen all the time. But still, he did very well in an NFL game vs a division rival. Those are always tougher.
Tall order from Lance who looks like a stud sometimes, and sometimes looks like Paxton Lynch. His Central Arkansas game was brutal.
