Trey Lance QB NDSU

The one problem Wentz has is he makes a lot of bad decisions. Throws into coverage and runs when he shouldn't. He makes too many turnovers. I don't know if Lance would be like that. Nobody really does since they don't face defenses in college like they see in the NFL.

Wentz regressed like crazy, dude needs a fresh start but the Eagles are not eating all that dead money if they release him. I would happily take Wentz, my problem with him is he looks to hit a home run every play and doesn't take what the d gives him. Give him a guy like Kyle to get him back to the basics and a different environment

Wentz seems like damage goods, he hasn't been the same after his injury. Much rather draft a QB in the 1st.
Hill is an odd comparison, because he is 30 and is more of a gadget guy than a QB. Hill was a good a QB at BYU. I like what I see from highlights of Lance in 2019, but way too much running. If he could convert about half the running yards to passing yards it would help him in the pros. It isn't good for career longevity for a QB to get near 1,000 yards rushing.

Zero turnovers and a 16-0 record his first year as a starter is impressive. The weird forced one game in 2020 was a bad idea. Some people don't respect the schedule, but they played the best of similar teams. It's not like a far superior BYU team playing North Alabama. Lance does attack the defense on his runs, and Zach Wilson is a smarter safe runner avoiding most hits. Both have a chip on their shoulder; which I like. They are both very confident which I like. They are similar in size, but Zach looks a lot thinner too me. Plus, Zach has some past injuries that are somewhat concerning. The BYU bowl game will possibly break the tie in my mind. Except for Lawrence I think the ceiling is the highest for Lance and Wilson of the QB class.

I'd love to see a defense have to worry about the QB running in side the 10 yard line. Some people are saying you should sell out for Wilson. One person mentioned 3 first round picks; which is more than the Rams traded up from 15 to 1 to get Goff. If you are trading that much you better get Lawrence.

I like Lance and Trask as realistic options( Wilson is Jacksonville bound) the 49ers can draft at QB to come in and learn behind a Vet for a season. Our team will be good enough barring injuries to still compete for a division with a good Vet. Maybe Jimmy is that guy but drafting for the future is the start thing to do.

Our team is likely to look VASTLY different next year if Jimmy g contract is still on the books as is. Half of our roster are free agents.

His oline is a revolving door and never seems to have his full compliment of weapons. For a 1-2 year deal getting him back to the basics for a coach who knows what he's doing and the talent surrounding him I'll take my chance. But he won't be available with the crazy dead money they'll have to eat

I'll bet money the Jags don't take Wilson over Fields

I'll bet money that one of you is wrong.
I see Lance as a boom or bust prospect.

If Lance plays right away I can see his coach featuring his legs in the system a lot the first 2 years while the kid improves with his arm the same way the Ravens are doing with Lamar.

After those 2 years if Lance doesn´t improve his throwing ability (full-field reads, 2nd and 3rd options, tight windows) he is gonna be a bust. On the other hand if he can turn into an accurate passer he is gonna be a boom.

The main difference I see between Lance and Wilson is that Wilson seems to be ready to play right away (sort of) with his arm as his best weapon while Lance is going to need his legs way more.

I don´t know if Shanahan will want to take that bet on Lance.

I'd feel most comfortable with Lance if he sat for a year. You could use him as a gadget player at times the way Harbaugh used Kaepernick as a rookie. Put him into the game on short yardage situations, utilize some RPO's and give him some opportunities to boost his confidence and make plays while studying the offense and further developing his mechanics overall.

I see so only the 49ers organization think so highly of Wilson (fans guessing) and the Jaguars organization does not(49ers hoping)? Why we are on this topic I have to also assume no other NFL team within reasonable drafting order that needs a QB thinks highly of Wilson either, just the 49ers( again 49ers fans guessing/hoping)?

That right there seems out the realm of possibility my NY friend. Wilson has earned the right to become the 1st or 2nd QB taken.

SILLY idea... unless you see him as a PROJECT..

and if you, then don't take him in the 1st round.

You don't draft a QB for one year. You're drafting them for 10-15 years. If you think someone can be your franchise QB ultimately, you take them wherever you can get them. If they need to sit for a year, then so be it. In the grand scheme of things it is a minor issue.
