Trey Lance QB NDSU

Trey Lance QB NDSU

The sound the ball was making when it hit the receivers' hands at Trey Lance's Pro Day is just different from everyone else. Lance throws triple-digit heat.

Lol that's pretty random. Going the extra mile to get the inside scoop.

Cowherd is resorting to selling out his daughter for inside scoops the commitment to his job is real lol.

Lol cowherd says some outlandish s**t at times but he does have his sources and if this is true he maybe the guy unless they're lying to Lance

Lance probably had the best pro day of the 3 guys we're in line to choose from. Too many people falling in love with Fields hand timed 4.43.

Too raw, huge bust potential. Hard pass.

Wasn't that a CK trait also?

Kap had a college 58% completion percentage vs 67% for Lance who only had 1 Int in his college career.

His "college career" is one season. Not a knock on him, but it's something to consider.

Not his fault his season this year was one game. None of the guys we're in line to draft have had the ideal 4 year college experience.

That´s what Daniel Jeremiah said. Probably the stronger arm in the class.

I don't understand what Lance has that Fields doesn't have. Seems like the only thing is experience playing under center with a FB. I think Lance is QB #5 with us.

Perceived traits
I was surprised to read Jones only has 17 starts, just like Lance. He does have 11 more games played in and 200+ more pass attempts. But the Jones boosters act like he was a 4 year starter.
I really like this guy. However, I do think the situation he winds up in probably matters more than a guy like Fields or Jones.

But if he winds up with a good coach like Shanahan, the sky is the limit imo.
Trey would give us the deep ball off of play-action that we've never really had (under Shanahan). Sure, guys have run the routes, but it's mostly only successful over the middle, or the deep over, because our QBs can't do it.

Trey will add that to this team.

I have my doubts about his drop back passing, but this is Kyle Shanahan. As I've said many times, Shanahan has fooled 60% of this board into thinking Jimmy Garoppolo is a top 12 QB when he's really about 19-25. Whatever Lance struggles with in terms of regular pocket passing and finding hots, Shanahan will be able to conceal it most of the time until Lance gets better at reading defenses.

And if he doesn't really improve that much at that (like so many do), defenses still have to respect his deep ball, and they still have to respect his legs. That simplifies coverages for him, which makes it a little less crucial that he's able to correctly anticipate a defense and throw on time.

This team is a Super Bowl contender with Lance (unless he totally has zero work ethic and no chip on his shoulder, or has a learning disability, which I seriously doubt). For years. He's 20. That's 15 years or more.

Lance can throw tear drops, and he doesn't have the same ridiculously long release.
