Elite physical traits.
I don't know what's going on between the ears...but if Kyle thinks he has what it takes from a football IQ standpoint, then I'm all about it....Because that's really what's going to make or break Trey Lance. He has all the physical talent necessary to be really good.

I thought Trey Lance's pro day was the most impressive because of two things:
1) The arm talent just pops off screen. Fields has a cannon and Wilson has whippy, twitchy arm, but this dude has a bit of combo of the two. Those line drives not only had serious heat on them, but they were hitting dudes right in their facemasks, which is where most receivers want it to run after the catch.
2) The vast improvements from his 2019/2020 tape. His throwing motion looks a lot tighter, and his footwork looks cleaner. He could probably get more depth on his drops, but man, he's so athletic that he gets to his landmark quickly.
When I factor in those comments Shanahan made about Josh Allen(ie he wanted to draft him in 2017 after he had a tiny body of work+the traits of the modern QB), this guy is the wild card. This is Josh Allen-lite right here. My gut tells me they're debating over Mac Jones and Trey Lance at 4949 Centennial Blvd in Santa Clara.

Word was that he is more impressive in the classroom than on the field
from his college QB coach:
"If you had to win a game tomorrow," Avery added, "in terms of like, these college guys go win a game in the NFL, his preparedness — like him knowing how to do all those things, Xs and Os, getting his team in the right spots — is so much more vast than anybody else in this class, he'd be the guy that I'd take. He's most ready in that way."
"I would be shocked if he fell past 12," he told the hosts"
^ that was before SF made the trade...

I'm not buying the groupthink surrounding the #49ers and Mac Jones.

I think Kyle Shanahan's plan is to draft North Dakota State QB Trey Lance and give him time to develop behind Jimmy Garoppolo.
This week's mailbag: https://t.co/QzHkhGx1Jb
Reasoning?

-Upside: great arm, athleticism, running ability, dynamic RZ threat, *toughness*
-scheme fit: movement, throws and processing at NDSU are similar to Shanahan's offense, easier to project
-ball security: NCAA record for attempts without an INThttps://t.co/QzHkhGx1Jb

His lack of experience and level of competition is why. I agree, however, his physical ability is off the charts. MONSTER arm, fluid body language etc. Its like Fields, its more the mental part of QB than physical. He too enticing for someone not to take a chance.
I mean if we draft him and Kyle sits him for a year etc, do we know expect great things? In the end you never know, but damn that's an ideal situation.

I'm just not buying that people that had no clue SF was moving up, threw out that Jimmy was the man this yr, & we're gonna trade for Minshew blah blah blah ...all of a sudden know who the QB will be at 3. All these FO sources are lying out their ass a month before the draft. See it every yr.
