IMO he's not any riskier than Fields....Zach Wilson seems "safer" than both of those guys but I doubt he's available when the Niners pick.

I like Lance because I think he's a perfect fit for Shanahan and I think his physical traits are top notch.

How is Zach WIlson safer? His one great season he was barely touched, so you have to ask how he reacts to not having a clean pocket & he is physically smaller and might not stand up to hits.

Wilson is on another level as a thrower imo. He's just a natural....so fluid, beautiful ball, ect. I think the chances of him busting if Shanahan is his coach are pretty slim.

I also think Shanahan could make Lance and Fields successful QB's. Niners are in a good spot because Shanahan is going to get the most out of whoever they draft.

QB's should be trying to force their way here over the other teams drafting in the top 5.

I'm not buying Mac Jones...at least not as the Niner QB. What I am buying is Fields and Lance. Shanahan knows the league is moving toward more athletic, mobile QB's. Jimmy isn't that guy, think the vast majority of fans get that. Fields and Lance have escapability and the ability to make plays when things break down. Where I separate the two is we know what Fields can do...and a lot of it has been very good. IMHO Lance isn't even close to realizing his full potential. Who better to unleash that than Shanahan. For me, it's a match made in Heaven.

Hope you are right, but the noise is just hard to ignore at this point. Sportsbooks have Jones as the leading favorite.

I am just prepping for disappointment. All of the Jones fans and Alabama homers who say hes the next Brady and Peyton better be right

I agree with this, I love Wilson BUT why is everyone cool with him and not Lance or Fields? IMO there isn't a whole hell of a lot that Wilson does that Lance/fields can't do.

Lance and fields are amazing arm talents all the same.

He's not safer. He is an amazing talent, but there's a lot of risk with him. And of all the QBs being talked about at #3 he's the one that goes off-script the most, even when he doesn't need to, and I'm not sure Shanahan would be thrilled about that.

Please tell me everything shanahan knows. What did he have for breakfast yesterday? What's his favorite movie?
Does this guy have a touch pass in his arsenal

Personally I think he is just riding the Josh Allen hype while not having the tools Josh Allen had and all the accuracy issues (admittedly not as big of an issue).

he's more nuanced as a 19 yr old than Josh Allen was coming out of school and more accurate.

Those Shanahan comments about drafting Josh Allen in 2017 are telling. Allen had 2 fewer starts and 90 more pass attempts in 2017 than Trey Lance does right now. I don't think a measly 90 pass attempts will deter Kyle from Lance if he was ready to take Allen.

90 more attempts? Allen had over 600. Lance has barely over 300.

That's pretty substantial imo.

I wouldn't hate Lance though. Just prefer Fields.

Reread what I wrote, my friend.

My bad, I forgot when Kyle made those comments and overlooked the whole 2017 thing...carry on lol.

He isn't even close to that level of talent...that is absurd.

It better be a smokescreen as 99.9% of the media has already swallowed it hook, line and sinker including Todd McShay changing his mock draft from Trey Lance to Mac Jones to the 9ers having heard from a truckload of people in the league that Mac Jones suits Shanahan's system to a tee. It makes me sick to my stomach and want to punch something at the same time.

Is no big secret, we all know Shanahan is absolutely garbage in drafting, but surely he can't be this stupid being so far off the mark with Mac Jones. I refuse to believe he is taking Mac Jones. Like many have already mentioned including myself, Shanny has already admitted and realized he was wrong with his previous extreme bias on pocket passers. Given where the league is going with mobile QBs including our D often having major issues in defending against mobile QBs, it would be insane to still go the stature route. To date, 2 pocket passers have got him to the Super Bowl and lost. Shanny really needs to take a page from his dad. Mike Shanahan has won 2 Super Bowls and who were his quarterbacks? John Elway and Steve Young. And what do they have in common? Enough said...

Part of me is also preparing for disappointment just for self-preservation purposes. But, in all honesty, if Shanahan really has the arrogance to insist on drafting Mac Jones? I am done, I am getting too old for this sh*t.
