He's just a pup...I wouldn't expect anyone to have pin point accuracy as a red shirt freshman (who's working on his mechanics). I might be wrong, but I don't think he was gifted QB camps and QB coaches like some other 16-18 yr old kids.

You can already see the massive improvement just in the past 5 months working with Quincey. His mechanics overall look much more compact then last yrs film. He just needs reps.

Honestly I wouldn't hate him or Fields, I just have Fields as my QB2

thats my concern with Lance as well. What i like about Lance is his athleticism size and arm. Hes also good at reading D and makes few mistakes and very rarely makes bad decisions when he throws the ball.

His accurracy and ball placment is a huge issue he would not be ready to play as a rookie at all imo.

Pretty sure this year was the first year he ever worked with a private QB coach.

His accuracy and ball placement are not a huge issue. His on target% and catchable% were 77% and 84% on an average depth of target of 10.7. That's in line with all of the other top qb prospects.

None of them should be playing as a rookie.

Yup I believe you are correct, you could see the improvements at his pro day. I'm not really worried about his accuracy "issues" overall...I just have Fields as my QB2.

but i have confidence with Fields and Mac can play and win (not at SB level) if Jimmy G gets injured

Have a feeling that this is our guy, especially if he kicks ass at his pro day.
Middlekauff and Haberman think SF takes Lance

I have just as much confidence in Lance being able to step in and run exactly what kyle likes if Jimmy gets hurt.

But it's not really lol. Same amount of starts as the "most pro ready" QB according to some in here (Jones).

I understand the passing attempts, but what he was asked to do as a 19 yr old is beyond want most 4 yr college QBs are asked to do.

I would have zero issues taking Lance. Let him sit because we can afford to do that.

Doesn't ND State require there QB's to call audibles at the line of scrimmage pre snap? I know he's raw, but I'm pretty sure he could pick up Kyle's offense quickly, plus the dude can run arguably like Kaepernick.

I'd buy that for a dollar

Exactly this. Ppl think - bc he didn't play last year - he's the exact same player as he was when he was 19. From everything we have heard and read about him - he is a really hard worker - football is his life - is extremely smart - all the physical traits and more - and he wants to be great. I think that's a great starting point to be successful in the NFL for any QB. After that - it's on him and his coaches to get the most out of him and there is a LOT there.

I'd love for 49ers to draft any of the 3 (ie. Wilson - Lance - Fields). I think all 3 have very high potential. Lance's potential is highest imho just bc he is gonna be 21 throughout this season and will turn 22 right before training camp 2022 starts. That's ridiculously young.

Yes they do
Nick Easton (former NDST QB) talking to DJ about Herbert and Lance...saying they're very very similar when it comes to intelligence, how the can absorb info, and overall skill set and arm talent.
