I was on this guys bandwagon at pick 12. A little skeptical picking him over fields at 3 but can understand the reasons why.
can't go wrong with either.

It sounds like it's going to come down to Lance or Fields - I'm fascinated to see who they pick. Can't wait.

I get the feeling that Trey could be the surprise Shanny pick. Maybe he wants to coach up someone different than the "typical" archetype QB Simms thinks he wants. Similar to the Pettis to Deebo situation (Everyone kept talking about how important running the full route tree was for Shanny that draft, Deebo & Hurd didn't come to mind)

Trey was my #1 target before the trade, and I'm leaning back towards him. I still think Fields is safer, but I back our coaching staff and situation to bring the best out of whichever QB we take.
I do prefer Fields' accuracy, but I can see Trey having that Josh Allen like jump and being unbelievable.

All of us have seen crappy OCs like Roman pretty much ride athletic QBs.
Kyle wasn't ready for mobile QBs 10 years ago with RG3, but I think he is now. He's ready to take this whole mobile QB thing to the next level. What Roman has been doing is amateur hour and Kyle knows it.

Interesting point of view, I think Kyle was ready, I mean they got to the playoffs, RG3 was a pro bowler and ROY, then tore his ACL.
I think where Kyle has changed is that he's accepted that you can encorporate the strengths of an athletic QB, within your structure. It can then be a get out of jail free card if the play breaks down.

That's a better way to put it. I didn't mean he wasn't capable, just that mobile QBs weren't something he believed in and bought into in 2012

They want to direct compare him to Fields and get Becks opinion. Interesting.

I think it is more so the game has changed. Too many freaky athletes nowadays on defense (especially D-line). Hard to do anything outside of the play if you aren't mobile enough.

This Lance has been working with Beck makes me wonder about the report that some in the organization favor Lance. Kyle could have taken that recommendation with an open mind but pressed Lance to workout with Beck to assess how he can adjust to Kyle's concerns. It's interesting how this is playing out

We still have Jimmy for two more years - so taking Lance will minimize the question of when he'll be ready.

For sure there is probably a few factors. Another change is in how QBs are protected. I think the health of mobile QBs has surprised most people. RG3 went the way everyone pretty much expected mobile QBs to go health-wise, and I think that turned Kyle off even more at the time.
You definitely can't use your QB as a short yardage/goal line battering ram like Carolina did with Cam for years, but for the most part mobile QBs have remained just as healthy as pocket QBs. That has probably been a surprise to people like Kyle.
