I went to bed last night thinking to myself. How? How could someone who played that bad and not throw a single Interception in 2019? Could a man truly be that lucky? Did the man actually make a deal with the Devil? The only thing I could come up with is when he missed his receiver. And trust me he missed them often. That it was because he threw the ball so damn hard, with so little touch, was so inaccurate, so off-target.....That no one on the entire football field could see where he threw it, let alone actually catch it.

I'm going to copy and paste this and we'll come back to this statement in three years. I have a strong feeling you'll be eating crow. It's kind of rich to say your piss poor surface level tape evaluation matches his GOD awful stats:

Lance's 2019 "GOD awful" stats:
2,786 yards on 67% completion
28 passing TDs to 0 INTs
NFL passer rating 131
Rush yards 1,100
Rush TDs 14

I would add that you clearly just don't like him if that's what you're seeing while "evaluating" his tape.

Beautiful post IceMan, really nice way of laying it out.

He posted numbers 99% of the posters have seen. How is that a beautiful post?

He won't fall. If the 49ers don't take him, one of Atlanta, Denver, Philadelphia, Washington or Chicago definitely will.

Yeah I don't think he's getting past 10. I was just going off the pack of Girl Scouts comment. Seahawks would still take him to shut up that little boy scout QB.

I liked the simplicity of it and calling out Bloodless' process. Plenty of posters (including myself) have put out long and reasoned scenarios of the difference of Trey Lance as a 19 year old RS Freshman Vs what he's likely to become in the league, but you can't reason with some people.

Simple post, easily searchable, you're wrong see you in 3 years.

EDIT bets off if he goes to the Lions though!!! I doubt any of these QB's would succeed there!

Did you see the portion of his interview with Herbstreet where he discusses a couple of plays? It doesn't sound simple to me and his knowledge sounds top notch. I don't think the QB21 interviews have been posted anywhere I can see though.

If NDSU is running simple concepts then I guess so is the NFL:

Landing spot is HUGE for bust ratio. If he goes to the Jets or Bears I'm a bit worried I'll be the one eating crow .

My point was more that he was saying that his god awful tape (his opinion, which he is entitled to) matches his god awful stats. Except he put up a statistically historic season so.... ???

He can spin it any way he wants too. It may not matter to some, but others could interpret it as backing down. If we draft him, I hope I am wrong.

I think it's smart, you can see how much effort he is putting into his throwing motion and footwork, why mess around training for the 40?

Especially when the data is out there.

It was definitely a business decision. It would have been "smart" to sit out the rest of the Clemson game and the Alabama game to not risk getting hurt before the draft as well.

He wants to be evaluated as a QB and not an athlete during the draft process. Lamar Jackson didn't run the 40 or do agility drills at the combine for the same reason.

This dude turned down solid D1 offers just for the opportunity to compete at QB at a small school. That's a more telling sign of 'competitive spirit' than whether or not he runs a 40. Let's not allow weird narratives to creep into the eval.

Lance is competing with Fields for the #3 spot. There was no one else like Jackson in his draft. If your competitor runs the 40, you should want to run the 40. I am not saying that Lance isn't a competitor, I am saying, that he has never matched up with an equal before, and when he did, he "seemed" to back down. That concerns me. Again, I hope I am seeing something that is not there, if he gets drafted at 3.

It did seem like Lance didn't have as much urgency. Even Middlekauf pointed out how he wasn't trying to sell the play action, and his spinning out of the pass rush didn't seem like he was trying to replicate how he would do it in the game.

that is actually what I came to this thread to see. If people noticed what I noticed. He did leave a few balls shorter than I would have liked to see. The long snag over the middle. WR had 2 hands away from the body where he waited for the beautifully thrown ball to come down so he could snag it. Just a bit short. He did have a couple others outside that were very close to in stride. Maybe they were backup WRs he hadn't worked with? Justin Fields was throwing to Freshman he hadn't worked with in his 2nd pro day and absolutely nailing them in stride.

I like Lance. I won't be mad if he is the pick. But to me, the only thing he MIGHT do better than Fields is get rid of the ball a little faster and work through his reads. And that is debatable and I believe can be taught in an NFL system. I am more sure than ever the pick has to be Fields.

Do you really think you can judge whether he's hitting people in stride based on a few clips? What if the slow mo deep ball was more about displaying his arm than the route?

That's the problem, why does he have to focus on "just" displaying his arm. Fields was dripping with sweat showing everything he had in BOTH pro days. You can explain it away all you want, but you have to admit, that COULD BE a red flag.

Let's enjoy his throws again from his first pro day. The ball simply explodes out of his hand. His deep ball is effortless, he looks like he doesn't even need to put anything into the throw and the ball will go for miles.

Get ready to order the No.5 jersey, folks!!

If you don't like Lance your just hating.

I disagree. If you saw Josh Allen's pro day and saw him throw a 60 yard bomb effortlessly but he over threw his WR. The people that wanted him and the people that didn't want him because of that were both right at the time.
