Interesting little nugget that I don't think has been mentioned in that same Schrager mock: The 49ers even met with Lances parents.....

Huh? Where was this mentioned?

In that NFLN Schrager mock, when he still picks Mac but also talks about Lance

You don't think they've met with all their parents? I'm sure they met with Mac's sister and asked why you tweeted a a pic of young McCorkle in a taboo I hate Obama costume ?

No idea. I do know it's the only one I've heard about

Very interesting. Further evidence that it's Jones or Lance and not Fields at three.

Why because Simms made a bad evaluation? He even said he might be wrong.

same guy that said Dwayne Haskins was a top end 1st rd pick and had Mitch going higher than Mahomes and Watson as like the 31 pick.

we will see

I'm just saying, I'm sure they've met with all of their families.

I am not familiar with Easton Stick but I just looked up his stats and they are actually pretty darn close to Trey Lance. Stats only tell a little bit but I was a little surprised by this. I expected more a gap.

Trey lance 2019
2786 passing yards
28 tds
0 int
66.9%
rushing 1100 yards
14 TDs

Easton Stick 2018
2752 passing yards
28 tds
7 ints
62.3%
rushing 677
17 tds

The gap shows up on tape in their arm strength. Stick's arm on film compared to Lance is like Mac's arm on film compared to Lance.

Actually I take it back. I'm insulting Stick's arm strength.

In all seriousness though.. as great an FCS college player as Stick was there is a reason he went in the 5th round.

Maybe they like him since he's not athletic enough to get away when forced to participate in Jed's Glory Hole Parties

Warning it's a Grant Cohn video. And he says "why are Justin Fields 600 throws more valuable than Lances 300?" He didn't answer the question cause I think he heard himself talk and realized he's a moron.

He said the number of quality throws based on Lance's experience and repetitions playing under center and/or having full control /decision making as far as protections and overall decision on what to do with the ball on any given play was much higher than Fields. Lance at this point in time is more pro ready based on experience, regardless of throws/snaps.
I would take a QB with mechanical issues any given day than a QB with game processing issues. Lance will be ready to play in the NFL with much higher rate of success than any rookie QB in the NFL this coming year due to Lance's unique/rare qualities and drive to be great, not to mention having a ready made Superbowl caliber team's support.

1. It's funny how people use Haskins college success to downgrade Fields but don't use Stick to downgrade Lance. You can see a noticeable difference in Fields and Haskins.

2. It's also funny how Fields gets downgraded for not beating out Fromm as a true freshman, but Lance doesn't get downgraded for not beating out stick.

3. You would expect someone as talented as Lance to "Stick" out a little more and look more like a man amongst boys especially with his arm.

If this playing under center and calling protections thing was so important to Shanahan, why wouldn't we just trade for Wentz who had 3 years in that system instead of 1, and NFL success. He would have been much cheaper.

Fields' improvement as a QB coming out of college was incremental, while Lance's improvement in much lesser amount of time was exponential!

He was damaged goods imho, based on his attitude which started after the benching.
Everybody should not forget, Kyle and John also put a lot of stock on how a player's character would mesh with the current team. They need a new QB which is not only way over achiever but a guy that would be able to show tremendous leadership qualities before even saying anything at all to start with. Hmmm, who's the funny/happy-go-lucky ones on this bunch? I bet the 49ers would prefer maturity than age on that aspect of evaluation.

Wentz is making $32 million a season. I think this deal was reduce the cost of a QB on the salary cap in the near future while guys like Bosa and Warner start looking for $$.

I see what you're saying, but I think as long as you love football you're cool with us. There are a lot of different personality types and they mesh well together.

I could see Mac fitting in the Kittle, Juice, Trent Taylor group.

Fields with guys like Warner, Bosa, Trent Williams.

And I think Lance would sort of dip in and out of all of them. All these QB's seem to be all ball, I really don't think we can go wrong, maybe just more right with the perfect selection.
