Warning it's a Grant Cohn video. And he says "why are Justin Fields 600 throws more valuable than Lances 300?" He didn't answer the question cause I think he heard himself talk and realized he's a moron.

He said the number of quality throws based on Lance's experience and repetitions playing under center and/or having full control /decision making as far as protections and overall decision on what to do with the ball on any given play was much higher than Fields. Lance at this point in time is more pro ready based on experience, regardless of throws/snaps.

If this playing under center and calling protections thing was so important to Shanahan, why wouldn't we just trade for Wentz who had 3 years in that system instead of 1, and NFL success. He would have been much cheaper.

Wentz is making $32 million a season. I think this deal was reduce the cost of a QB on the salary cap in the near future while guys like Bosa and Warner start looking for $$.

Not if they were considered Stafford and Watson.

Now those two are actuality rumors and speculation. What we know without a shadow of a doubt today is that they were working on trading up to #3 overall well over month before the draft specifically to draft a QB.

So what's your point? NDSU is the incubator of Shanahan QBs, then let's get one whose been in the incubator longer, regardless of price. An if.......they weren't rumors, they could have had Wentz for a lot less than any of the other QB options.

we drafted McGlinchey and kept Staley around. They do not mind goofy characters. As long as they are not getting DUIs. Which in Mac's case, I guess they're just ignoring it.

It was a transcendent dui though lol

Do you guys think this arrest 3 1/2 yards ago as a 19 year old will actually play a role in Kyle's decision?

Well as this is the Lance thread let's look at what he was doing as a 19 year old kid.

Just running an offense like an NFL QB and winning a championship without losing a game or throwing an interception!

Right!!! And cutting up film for the installs that he ran for games, not cutting up pictures to use for a fake ID

Ha ha ha ha ha! It's so true.

All of these Trey doubters should ask themselves what he would have looked like with 3 years sitting and learning Alabama's offense and then getting to play with that team.

Interesting little nugget that I don't think has been mentioned in that same Schrager mock: The 49ers even met with Lances parents.....

It is intriguing because it does remind me of Steve Young's comments a couple of weeks ago regarding Zach Wilson and how the Jets are committed to Zach and recruited the family.

Though I don't think I would read much into other than the fact that it further adds evidence that Lance is at least a strong consideration for them as I doubt you'd meet the parents for some guy you had little interest in drafting.

But they could've met Jones' and Fields' parents and we don't know about or it could've been Lance's parents were in attendance and you might as well exchange some pleasantries with them if they are right there.

Now if it's a case where they went out of there way to meet Lance's parents there might be some smoke to that because I feel you only do that if they were basically locked in on him.

They didn't want Wentz. They seem to really like Lance - which is why they're doing all this extensive work. Maybe just maybe Shanahan knows something you don't.
Maybe Kyle didn't want Wentz because he was the worst QB in the league last season and is a turnover machine.

Distance from where to where?

The length of the entire period he payed in the pro-style offense, compared to the length of the entire period days Fields played in a college system.

Dave Lombardi said based on his source/s that Kyle and John left Santa Clara almost an hour late on Lance's pro-day. They quickly watched the guy throw and chat just a bit then left Fargo in a rush. I suspect Lance's parents were at the pro-day for some pleasantries to have happened between both parties. That was probably the first face-to-face meeting for all concerned and the entire pro-day process was like window shopping.

You like to buy the gorgeous three-piece suit on display in front of a store but you were early, the store was still closed and the only thing you could do is to obsess about it on the other side of the thick glass, just an arm-length away for you to be able to touch and feel the luxurious fabric! So, you go back home and tell your Dad about it and confirm it is what you really want and hoping your Dad will not have a heart attack as soon as you tell him the cost.

I hope it's Lance - he'd be a big upgrade over Jimmy.

And that's just straight up ridiculous.

Of course, but it's still a mistake. One Lance, Fields, Wilson, Lawrence, and hundreds of other prospects didn't make. It's of note and should be talked about, but by all standards he's getting the free pass on it.

Also being drunk and belligerent vs a DUI are VERY different, the DUI is massively more serious. When you obtain a drivers license you assume the responsibilities that come with it. I don't care if you're 18 or 58. Just ask Reid's son. I would be fired on the spot from my job if I got a DUI, age and National championship be damned.

As allbright has stated there's other off field stuff beyond the DUI and questionable photos as well...there's a reason Denver isn't touching him and why Rap says there isn't another team that has him top 3 on their big board

Come on NY, you know that Allbright is shady and has an agenda.

There's more than enough to bury Mac with, I don't think character needs to be one. By all accounts he's a great kid.

He most certainly is not shady at all...dude is as objective as it comes with NFL insiders.

what agenda does he even have with Mac? He's heard reports from teams, Biderman of the sac bee and tony pauline have said this much as well...the fact that none are blasting what this kid has said/done, shows they're not trying to be shady or undermining...let the teams do their homework.

You or I know nothing about this kid. When multiple people bring up stuff then we should have a right to question it.
