Warning it's a Grant Cohn video. And he says "why are Justin Fields 600 throws more valuable than Lances 300?" He didn't answer the question cause I think he heard himself talk and realized he's a moron.
He said the number of quality throws based on Lance's experience and repetitions playing under center and/or having full control /decision making as far as protections and overall decision on what to do with the ball on any given play was much higher than Fields. Lance at this point in time is more pro ready based on experience, regardless of throws/snaps.
If this playing under center and calling protections thing was so important to Shanahan, why wouldn't we just trade for Wentz who had 3 years in that system instead of 1, and NFL success. He would have been much cheaper.
Wentz is making $32 million a season. I think this deal was reduce the cost of a QB on the salary cap in the near future while guys like Bosa and Warner start looking for $$.
Not if they were considered Stafford and Watson.
Now those two are actuality rumors and speculation. What we know without a shadow of a doubt today is that they were working on trading up to #3 overall well over month before the draft specifically to draft a QB.
So what's your point? NDSU is the incubator of Shanahan QBs, then let's get one whose been in the incubator longer, regardless of price. An if.......they weren't rumors, they could have had Wentz for a lot less than any of the other QB options.
