Long term, that would be way better than Mac to SF. Trey lets us ride with Jimmy, who definitely makes this team a playoff team when healthy. Then when Trey is ready, the team goes to a whole other level. That is, if we take him.

Makes too much sense...you can build up Jimmy's stock this yr and recoup picks in 2022.

his no trade clause is only for this yr and not many teams are taking on $27M this yr.

you got film of him running Kyles offense basically

It is all just talk, nobody knows anything but it does line up with us keeping Jimmy. Man I still say he is green, but you cannot deny the raw material. If we are going with Lance I hope Jimmy stays healthy this year and give our coaches a chance to mold this kid. My preference is still Fields but I would rather go Lance than Jones.

IMO he's less green then Josh Allen or Mahomes...he ran a pro offense. He was asked to do things than most college QBs don't do.

fields is my QB2 so I would go for him all day...I totally get Lance though and wouldn't be upset one bit

I'm not worried about his accuracy at all and if all kyle does is scheme dudes open he can hit them....which he did plenty (completed 68%) to some open dudes.

This move would make a ton of sense based on what they've been saying for months. IF he stayed another yr he more than likely would be the #1 pick in the 2022 draft. Why not grab him let him learn, He's only 20.

I'm all for it

Huh? Did you gather all of this from his rehearsed pro day?

He ran a pro offense sure but he had one game this year...that isn't experience and lets not forget Mahomes and Allen took a year plus to reach their potential. Mahomes sat behind Alex and there was a lot of talk of Allen being a bust up in Buffalo. We have to keep Jimmy not just this year but possibly into next. Which I am fine with, I just think Fields lets us for sure walk away after this year and is just as good of a prospect. The only value in Mac is that we could move Jimmy now since we are getting Jimmy 2.0 on a rookie deal.

Not really as the majority of the fanbase will be relieved it's not Mac Jones.

Right or wrong Jones is by far the least wanted by the fans of the QBs in the draft and since over 90% of pundits have been saying it's Jones since the trade any name not Mac Jones will be a relief to them.

No Not just that...I followed him and his QB coach for months. You can see the change in mechanics.

I look at the mechanics not the rehearsed throws.

Agreed
He should really compete to start day 1 imo.

Any QB we draft should compete to start day 1.

If Mahomes didn't have to start on day 1, I don't see why any rookie should have to start on day 1.

Shanahan's offense is complex, if not even Matt Ryan could pick it up until year 2, you would be nuts to force a rookie to start on day 1.

Jimmy G already knows the offense like the back of his hand. He will have far more success than any rookie who knows nothing about Shanny's offense especially if there are no mini camp and training camp.

Why? Most teams drafting top 3 don't have Jimmy on the roster. These team does not need him to start to being a playoff team.

Why would Mike Shanahan meet his family lol? I could see why Mike would meet Trey but the family thing is kinda random.

Carlton Lance was on the 1994 49ers team. Mike was OC, they know each other.

I agree this situation seems ideally up fir the higher upside guy in Fields or Lance, and letting them cook a little bit while Jimmy starts for a year (health permitting). However, you can never count out Kyle going rogue.
