Trey Lance QB NDSU

Trey Lance QB NDSU

A part of me hopes we get Trey Lance because he hasn't necessarily been molded by a college coach. Sort of like a clean slate for an NFL coach to work with.

Imagine if Kyle gets a 5 start HS recruit straight out of HS to work with for a year or two that doesn't need to unlearn bad college habits. I can accept that.

I heard Mike Shanahan met with his family as well...

Why would Mike Shanahan meet his family lol? I could see why Mike would meet Trey but the family thing is kinda random.

Carlton Lance was on the 1994 49ers team. Mike was OC, they know each other.

Wow. Didn't realize the connection there. Thanks :)

Very interesting.

Correction, he was in camp with that team but was released early on. ""I tell people: They flew Deion in, and I flew out," Lance's father, Carlton, recently said in a phone conversation with the Mercury News' Cam Inman.

No wonder I didn't recall him from the 94 team.
Why would we have jimmy start lol. He can't stay healthy and is above average at best. His first bad read or errant pass will have the crowd chanting Lance/Fields.

you'd think it wouldn't be this difficult

They meant skin color, not ability.

If the reports are true that it's Lynch that wants Lance, I really hope Kyle has the ability to heed the HOF Safety's advice. Lynch spent his career studying QBs from the defensive backfield. He's watched thousands of hours of film preparing for good, s**tty, and great QBs alike. He kept his eyes on the QB during games and learned the QB position well enough to excel at his own to a HOF career. If Lynch is high on Lance, like he was high on Mahomes, I hope his clout and experience holds sway.

"Why settle for the next Josh Allen when you could have the next Kirk Cousins?" - Kyle Shanahan, probably

I hope Trey Lance won't have to say this:

49ers has gone viral on Twitter. Rodgers was asked by a TV host if he's disappointed to not go No. 1 overall to San Francisco.
Rodgers had a perfect response. "Not as disappointed as the 49ers will be that they didn't draft me," Rodgers said.

That was 16 years ago, I am not sure if we can take another SB (win) drought that long! We may be able to get to the SB with Jones, but he I doubt he could win us any at all!

Rodgers was lucky he wasnt drafted by us no way he wouldve succeeded here both Alex and Rodgers were projects and rodgers got time to sit and learn and had a great coach

we have the roster, the coaches, and the system and a veteran QB to play for a year. I cant think of a better situation for a top 3 QB in past 10 years

I doubt it. Elite accuracy, elite arm strength, elite vision, and elite mobility go a LONG way. In those early years, Alex and his backups — and the people who took his job — were the reason we sucked. Yeah, Rodgers altered his mechanics, but he didn't suddenly have some drastic metamorphosis. He still looked good in college.

So Jeremiah has Lance as QB3 and the 7th overall prospect.

He's pretty down on Mac. Has him as QB5 and his 32nd overall prospect.

Anyone else notice Schefter has reported nothing on the Mac vs. Trey news since Rap tweeted it out last night? Those guys are generally neck and neck on news and Schefty hasn't tweeted anything about it...

I'd argue that he needs to play not sit if he's drafted. He has just over 300 pass attempts to his name. When it comes to football it's better to learn by doing not watching.

Yeah, if your goal is to expedite his development. If your goal is to win the Super Bowl in the winter of 2022, he needs to sit until he surpasses Jimmy.

Unless we trade Jimmy, of course.
Simms confirms it's Adam Peters leading the charge for Trey Lance
