If heads roll, Shanny will be the last man standing. Jed York knows he is absolutely f**ked without Shanny. He's back to the days of dumpster diving for the Jim Tomsula's of the league if Shanny is gone. People forget that Jed had to get on his knees and beg Shanahan to come to here because nobody wanted to come here.
Why wouldn't you get Lance? He can roll out to the right and flick the ball 30 yards and it looks effortless.
In the 4th quarter when a game is tight, He can break off long QB runs when the D is tired.

If the reports are true that it's Lynch that wants Lance, I really hope Kyle has the ability to heed the HOF Safety's advice. Lynch spent his career studying QBs from the defensive backfield. He's watched thousands of hours of film preparing for good, s**tty, and great QBs alike. He kept his eyes on the QB during games and learned the QB position well enough to excel at his own to a HOF career. If Lynch is high on Lance, like he was high on Mahomes, I hope his clout and experience holds sway.

I don't think it was just Lynch that was wanting Lance but the entire personnel department that was calling for Lance. It's clear as day why Kyle would want Jones but when the entire personnel department is banging the table for Lance, Kyle has to give it serious consideration. Kyle sending John Beck to work with Lance is more proof that Lance was becoming the favorite for #3. The interviews and intangibles were off the chart for Lance. No character concerns and multiple meeting with the family are a huge sign it's Lance. As long as Beck gave Kyle the ok, Lance will be the pick on Thursday.

If that's true we are in a lose-lose situation then. If Shanny gets his way and drafts Jones, then his coaching staff/scouting department will lose faith in him. If he listens to everyone else and drafts Lance, then he might have residual resentment towards lance from the get-go. Like hey you weren't my first pick kind of thing but im going to try to make this work. I hope 100% of all parties involved is in on the pick. Whether it succeeds or fails

He's Raw, he hasn't played in a year outside of one bad game and will probably take multiple seasons to develop. In the right situation he's probably a home run but the HC needs to decide if he's willing to wait that long.

You're most likely right. To me this sounds like Lynch might be creating a little separation from Kyle in case this pick goes sideways. I'm sure Lynch will say all the right things in front of the cameras but I wouldn't be surprised if he let's Jed know about his concerns privately.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. The Niners have such a rich history and heritage that most people would look at it as an honor to coach this team. Does not matter what the current climate surrounding the team was. Plus his own father had a rich history with us. I think deep down Shanny was happy and honored to coach us

One season may be enough. Two would be ideal. He arguably has the most impressive mental make-up of any player in the draft (leadership, attitude, intelligence, drive) so he could conceivably pick up the offense as fast as any QB. Luckily, because of his rawness, the team may not feel pressure to thrust him into action early as they might with Fields and Mac who both have much more experience. It would be ideal that this roster has an experienced veteran in Jimmy at the helm while there are still Super Bowl aspirations. With Kyle's offense, I don't think any of these rookies will be better than a healthy Jimmy this year.

Simms said he's heard from multiple people that Niners front office is in love with Lance...says he doesn't know if it's John Lynch trying to play a political game...

This is getting very interesting.

Yep, we're back to the days of Baalke and Harbaugh. I wonder who will win the power struggle this time?

Seems like only a matter of time before Peters and possibly even Lynch are ousted and Kyle has his dad appointed as GM and Chris Simms as the top personnel guy.

New 6 year extension could make anything possible.

I would start playing it for sure. Could still be a smokescreen but doubt it at this point. He's staring right past a probable Ferrari that just needs seasoning to a Ford Taurus

I agree, his most recent game being his worst is a red flag as well.

Here it is.

How tf you gonna judge him on 1 game knowing he played because he wanted to help some his teammates who were on a part scholarship and needed that game to get it fully. Then knowing he only had 1 game to show out and possibly did too much, forced things and played out of character. 1 game in a 1 game season for him doesn't mean s**t, I doubt if he had a full season he wouldn't have regressed and there would've been talk about him being the no doubt 2nd qb after Lawrence. You guys act like a 19-20 year old kid is going to look like a 28 year old Brees mechanics and accuracy wise. Mahomes wasn't close to the qb he is now coming out, every one of these kids if they put in work get better and he seems according to plenty of reports works his ass off

1. The circumstances of the game have nothing to do with his accuracy and ball placement.

2. I don't want him to be Brees I just want him to be more accurate than 19 year old Lance.

3. We don't have a full season so we can't know if he regressed or not. That's my point.

4. Don't compare him to Mahomes, they are nothing alike.

5. I have no doubt he is a hard worker, I just think Fields' flaws are easier to fix and easier to project going forward, not to mention, his 2nd to last game was probably his best game and his last game showed some flashes as well.
The most important cause to Lance problem is pretty obvious (it's where he ends his drop and moves to throw). That makes it fairly easy to fix as long as the motion isn't too tightly ingrained in his brain.

Problems like field vision would probably be harder to fix.

I'm not worried about his accuracy at all and if all kyle does is scheme dudes open he can hit them....which he did plenty (completed 68%) to some open dudes.

This move would make a ton of sense based on what they've been saying for months. IF he stayed another yr he more than likely would be the #1 pick in the 2022 draft. Why not grab him let him learn, He's only 20.

I'm all for it

I agree I feel like his main two mechanical issues would be cleaning up his footwork, which you could say about literally any prospect in this class and that doesn't mean I think his footwork is bad by any means, and the "bounce" that many scouts have mentioned in his delivery. It's small, but still probably not good for accuracy. This is also stated sometimes as "keeping his eyes level".

I didn't see that bounce in his 2 pro days and his footwork I thought looked really clean.

That bounce definitely plays a roll in his inaccuracy, and I think especially on those passes that sink on him. But as you say, if he improved that, what else can he improve?

One thing I'll say about Lance is NO ONE beats him in the character category. He has the stuff.
If Trey ends up being the real deal then you don't need Kyle as your head coach. Get another good one that's more open minded to the Ferrari instead of the Honda Civic

Adam Peters sounds like our ray of hope for this situation.

That to me is huge when he'll be stepping into a locker room with grown ass men wondering who the heck this kid is worthy of three first rounds picks. You need a kid that is humble and ready to work. One of my concerns with Mac is he has that kind of Tom Brady cocky swagger, which works when you're as good as Brady, but kind of comes off as an ass if you're just some cocky rookie. I think Lance seems like a guy the locker room would embrace more easily.
