I'm pretty sure that's not true. The Niners have such a rich history and heritage that most people would look at it as an honor to coach this team. Does not matter what the current climate surrounding the team was. Plus his own father had a rich history with us. I think deep down Shanny was happy and honored to coach us

It's a fact that nobody wanted to come here. This isn't the Eddie Debartolo 49ers. This is the York-owned 49ers. This is the organization that fired Jim Harbaugh after 3 trips to the NFCCs and a Superbowl, that can't keep anything in-house, played musical chairs the last 20 years with head coaches, can't fill its home stadium, hasn't won a god damn thing since the Yorks took over and had endless off-field issues with its players. Again, this is not the 49ers a lot of you older folks grew up watching. This is a s**t-tier organization that had a terrible reputation around the league. Shanahan and Lynch have done a good job building it up, but don't let that fool you. This is still the York-owned 49ers.

Nobody wanted to come here. It's a fact. Things were so bad that Jed York and Paraag Marathe had a set up a powerpoint presentation to convince Kyle Shanahan or Josh McDaniel to consider taking the job. When Josh McDaniel pulled out, Jed York literally had to beg Kyle Shanahan to coach his team. He let Shanny handpick his own GM, gave him an unprecedented 6-year deal for a rookie head coach, and guaranteed him the final call(it's written in his contract) on the roster. Yeah, Shanny has Jed by the balls.

Yea, I think every team has to do one before the draft.

Lynch might use the press conference to announce his resignation. I don't know if a guy with his high character could stomach being associated with drafting Mac Jones.

Love these forums.

If that's true we are in a lose-lose situation then. If Shanny gets his way and drafts Jones, then his coaching staff/scouting department will lose faith in him. If he listens to everyone else and drafts Lance, then he might have residual resentment towards lance from the get-go. Like hey you weren't my first pick kind of thing but im going to try to make this work. I hope 100% of all parties involved is in on the pick. Whether it succeeds or fails

At the end of the day, the guys hired to evaluate talent are the best in the business at doing so. Not saying coaches can't be great talent evaluators, but they also need to spread their focus to a million other things. Trust your talent department to make the right decisions, or you'll never attract top talent if they think the coach will undermine all their hard work. I really hope Kyle has the humbleness to defer if he thinks the prospects are close.

If this is what's going on I'd seriously consider it. Dumpster 🔥 all over again
1. Trey Lance will not be ready to start day 1.
2. He will need to sit out one season or two. even if he starts 2022, he will have many growing pains.
3. Why do you draft a guy at 3 and give up all that capital if he doesn't start right away, Lawrence and Wilson will start

They meant skin color, not ability.

I think it's the other way around. Fans want the skin color. Shanahan, on the other hand, wants the guy that's gonna make Shanahan look like a superstar (as opposed to an actual superstar player).

Sorry man he was basically running Kyle playbook plays. He'd be ready

All of this. Jed would be the absolute last person to lose faith in Shanahan because he knows that he can't pick a head coach to save his life. After Singletary, Tomsula and Chip, I think Jed got scared straight, so he'll hold on to Kyle like a life preserver.

Because you're thinking about the long term? Imagine if the Bears came out and said that they took Trubisky over Mahomes, because they thought Mahomes would need to sit a year.

Adam obviously doesn't have a massive ego blinding himself

And could likely leave after the season

Yep. Can't support a head coach who keeps making horrific decisions over the most important player on the field

Yea? I think most fans here would be happy with Fields or Lawrence or Wilson or even Lance. Shanahan is the one that only ever seems to choose QBs of a certain skintone.

Is he intimidated by people of color???????
Can't get over that we're being mocked a 2nd round talent at the 3d pick. Has to be a nightmare scenario dream
