Yea, I think every team has to do one before the draft.

Lynch might use the press conference to announce his resignation. I don't know if a guy with his high character could stomach being associated with drafting Mac Jones.

Wrong. He will use the press conference to commit seppuku. Adam Peters will be his second, to remove his head so that he will die honorably. Afterwards, Peters will turn his head away from Shanahan to show his disappointment and how Shanahan has brought great shame and dishonor to the 49ers.

They meant skin color, not ability.

I think it's the other way around. Fans want the skin color. Shanahan, on the other hand, wants the guy that's gonna make Shanahan look like a superstar (as opposed to an actual superstar player).

Yea? I think most fans here would be happy with Fields or Lawrence or Wilson or even Lance. Shanahan is the one that only ever seems to choose QBs of a certain skintone.

Shanahan has literally only drafted one QB, and fought for another (Cousins). He traded for Jimmy because the Patriots offered.

He also signed Josh Johnson.

This take is lazy. It's more than lazy. It's f**king stupid.

Oh wow, he signed Josh Johnson. The fourth QB on the depth chart. That refutes any possibility of bias.

C'mon man, before you have a stroke over the slightest possibility of racial bias taking a role, maybe consider you're the one that first claimed that the fans want a QB based purely on race and that Shanahan doesn't care. Meanwhile, Shanahan didn't want RG3, didn't want Kaepernick, didn't want Watson, didn't want Mahomes, didn't want Fields, doesn't want Lance. Any one of those individually could easily be justified or explained, but the trend is there and cannot be refuted by merely pointing at Josh Johnson, a guy that will never play.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. The Niners have such a rich history and heritage that most people would look at it as an honor to coach this team. Does not matter what the current climate surrounding the team was. Plus his own father had a rich history with us. I think deep down Shanny was happy and honored to coach us

It's a fact that nobody wanted to come here. This isn't the Eddie Debartolo 49ers. This is the York-owned 49ers. This is the organization that fired Jim Harbaugh after 3 trips to the NFCCs and a Superbowl, that can't keep anything in-house, played musical chairs the last 20 years with head coaches, can't fill its home stadium, hasn't won a god damn thing since the Yorks took over and had endless off-field issues with its players. Again, this is not the 49ers a lot of you older folks grew up watching. This is a s**t-tier organization that had a terrible reputation around the league. Shanahan and Lynch have done a good job building it up, but don't let that fool you. This is still the York-owned 49ers.

Nobody wanted to come here. It's a fact. Things were so bad that Jed York and Paraag Marathe had a set up a powerpoint presentation to convince Kyle Shanahan or Josh McDaniel to consider taking the job. When Josh McDaniel pulled out, Jed York literally had to beg Kyle Shanahan to coach his team. He let Shanny handpick his own GM, gave him an unprecedented 6-year deal for a rookie head coach, and guaranteed him the final call(it's written in his contract) on the roster. Yeah, Shanny has Jed by the balls.

I think a lot of that is in your head. HC positions are coveted because there are only 32 of them. Hell even Urban Meyer took the Jax job and they're one of "worst" franchises ever. A lot of coaches with big egos like taking on sh*t situations because they can say I 100% flipped that team into a winner. If you can do that at least once in your career, you will always have people lining up at your door. I think Shanahan looked at us like that. I don't give a damn about their past, but I can turn this thing around.

All of this. Jed would be the absolute last person to lose faith in Shanahan because he knows that he can't pick a head coach to save his life. After Singletary, Tomsula and Chip, I think Jed got scared straight, so he'll hold on to Kyle like a life preserver.

I hated Jed, with a passion, but he has totally gone about this regime the right way. He is used to burning money with coaches LOL If Jones in the pick and cessnas are flying Fire Kyle banners, Yorks already been there done that and will fire his ass lol

I can't wait to see the race card getting used as an excuse on draft day, Kyle Shannahan is a racist!....Dr JT would be proud.

I'm not even accusing Shanahan of being racist. I'm just open to the possibility that racial bias could play a role in how one evaluates players. It was absurd for that poster to claim that the fans, and not possibly Shanahan, are the ones clamoring for a certain QB based on their race when the vast majority of fans would likely be happy with any one of Fields, Lawrence, or Wilson.
Am I the only one telling Jed on his twitter to not fk this up? Need this for my inner peace.

He's absolutely correct when it comes to the Niner franchise, and franchises in general. Just look at the team that was on the other side of the Bay.....there were former prominant HC's that were warning assistants to not take the Raiders job should it open. I believe one guy giving those warnings was Bill Cowher. As bad as it looks for them, the best thing for them was Gruden because he has a bit of cache. His name still means something in the league, although that seems to be withering away.

I'll always appreciate Harbaugh because when he took the job, he was the coveted 'rock star' that salvaged this franchise and pulled it back from the brink. His firing and subsequent hiring of Tomsula put us right at the edge again, and 49er fans should be thankful that Shanahan is the guy in charge.
