The owner always has a say so. According to Michael Silver, he's also been heavily involved in the QB discussions, so it isn't like he's unaware of what's going on.

Nice! I have had Lance as QB3 for a while now. I actually have started liking him more than Wilson as well lately.

I don't think the amount of snaps under center is a big deal. It's not like these QBs can't learn it.

It's more about projection...they've seen Lance play under center and use PA/boot and he's really really good at it....it's the one passing concept that every shanahan has utilized everywhere.

I would have no issue if the pick is Lance. Everything adds up.

Lance is still too much of unknown for me. I'd still take Fields over him.

So why didnt kyle send Jones to Beck to show him he is capable of operating under center?
Why not get all the information that you can get?
If Jones is the pick and fks up somehow, this one will come haunt Shanahan to NOT doing his due dillignece on the most important pick in the last decades.

I would be happy with Lance. I just think they should feel confident that the others could also play under center if they were asked to do so.

It's a visual...you've seen one kid basically run the same concepts. I agree it shouldn't be the only reason you draft a guy. I do remember Kyle loving that CJ ran PA from under center...same as Kirk in college.

toss in everything else Lance adds, moving ahead of ATL (who reportedly loved Lance) and keeping Jimmy for a yr...it makes sense

They can learn anything - it's one less thing to learn. Also - processing speed has to be a lot faster when you snap under center and have your it back to the defense.

It highlights how quickly you process when you're not reading the defense right after the ball is snapped.

All college QBs have to adjust to NFL speed. Having a QB who is already used to having his back to the defense - turn around - and quickly make a decision is kind of a big deal. Lot of QBs even in the NFL hate doing it.

Fields is my QB2 so I agree...I completely understand taking Lance though.
