hmmm
Surprised no one is talking about this part

Looks like it's McCorkle. Unless that smile was a "we got you man."

I'm still holding out hope their reference to waiting and taking time for the new qb translates to lance or fields. Jones apparently is more ready to start this year.

Certainly saying they aren't going to narrow it down flies in the face of eliminating fields allegedly.

They knew from the moment they traded up to 3 who they wanted, but they did do their due diligence. Kyle pretty much said it
The 49ers podcasters are unanimous in saying they still think Fields is in play at 3. Some have even said that the Mac Jones hype is being pushed by his people and not really a guy the 49ers are considering. I know there are a few podcasters that have become close with player agents over the last year. I believe the pick will be Lance, it's just crazy how even after the reports of the team being down to two guys, they remain confident the pick will be Fields.

I have a new working theory... Lance is gonna be the pick. The niners leaked Macs name originally to prep the fanbase and reaction was worse than feared. The pivot to Lance makes sense if they have the two real close to begin with and Kyle can now always say he didn't get his guy if it goes wrong. So Trey is the pick, Kyle loves the kid and gets all the credit if he's amazing but has an out if it doesn't quite work out.

Seems you could switch the QBs and flip Shanahan with Lynch and tell the same story. I hope you're right, but as an eternal pessimist I think it will be Jones.

Definitely could. Throw Adam Peters in there as well as it's been reported that he's all in on Lance. Basically there's a disagreement in the building and the leak is probably a concession to the party that's not gonna get their guy on draft day. Makes sense as far as a reason for the leaks. This is a decision that could impact all of these guys careers in a major way. If I was the guy not getting my way on draft day I'd want an out in case the guy they takes busted as well.

Yeah only thing is these reports are coming from the most dialed in guys in the league. Sure doesn't look like it's Fields at this point. But then again I'd be able to come up with a decent explanation as to why it was Fields all along come draft day if it's his name. Maybe they loved him so much they were terrified of the jets having a late change of?

Nvm I think I read that wrong.

At this point a lot of bets and gamblers put a lot of money on Jones as #3 pick - they are all starting to panic because some of them would lose a lot of money. Las Vegas businessmen always win, because they know who you are and your tendencies!

There is one or two teams the 49ers are hoping to trade up and snag Mac Jones away from them, but now the script have flipped - I am not sure if they want to trade the pick and still be able to get a decent QB. Unfortunately, they also realized there are no takers for Justin Fields at #3 and just recently all have decided to stay on #3 pick and just try to trade Jimmy instead, to try and get another good player this year.

At this point in time, they know their #3 pick. They were going to announce it at first but decided not to because it could be to their disadvantage when last minute changes on other teams could affect them.

Everybody's giddy and having sleepless nights at this point at 4949 Centennial Blvd. Remember this, it is all about being fresh in the NFL. "Everyday, you're
either getting better or getting worse." At a certain point, teams become stagnant/stale/predictable - the 49ers can't afford that with the wrong pick! You just can't make mistakes after another and people keep giving you patience! Trust your instincts and the people who really care about you - because half the time, it is not WYSIWYG!

That enticing figure you see from a distance could certainly be the one item as sole reason the 49ers may never win another Superbowl (again). Beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, how many pair of eyes are seeing the same thing that #3 pick is the one, to die for?

Honestly with how wildly these pre draft odds have swung back and forth I really don't think these books are getting a ton of action on the pick. That would explain the drastic line movement in that a relatively small amount of money like a few grand could cause the line to move. If they have $50k on Mac at three and only $10k on Fields they need to up their Fields stake so they move the line until money comes in.

I don't get it. You don't trade up to 3 to trade it away. They always envisioned taking either Mac, Lance or Fields here.
