This kid has thrown under 300 balls during his college career. Although, he has played the same amount of games as Jones, Jones has thrown the ball over 2x as much. As far as a thrower or passer, Jones is simply better except for pure arm strength.

To be clear, I don't like Jones either. In watching the games, he is no where near as accurate as what PFF says. He is a better passer than Lance, but not amazing by any means. Frankly, I am going to puke if we take either Lance or Jones on Thursday.

IMO Fields is every bit the passer Jones is but with more arm talent. He also can run. He is the pick and I will be furious with either Lance or Jones.

I hate to break this to you, but Lance and Fields are equally accurate according to SIS. Fields's comp % was propped up by his receivers pulling in a higher % of his off target throws than other prospects.

So, if you want accuracy as your primary trait in your QB, Jones is the only one you can legitimately put forward. If you're willing to accept slightly lesser (but still quite good) accuracy and higher athletic upside, then it's Fields or Lance.

Why'd you have to post an interview with her? Couldn't even look at Trey
We need to hope Lance really nailed the zoom calls and white board.
I'm luke warm on Mac but would really like to see what Kyle can do with Lance.

Where did you hear that? I'd like to see some stats. Certainly plausible, but Alabama and Florida have some pretty good WR groups that can catch off target throws as well. And the WRs at NDSU are so open that you can throw every ball high/low/short.

Here's an opposing stat - Field's WRs had a much higher drop rate than average which would have hurt his completion percentage by 2 points.

https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/article/qb-klassroom/quantifying-quarterbacks-justin-fields

"The other number of note here is Fields' blatant drop rate. At just over 5%, Fields dealt with blatant drops at about 2% of a higher clip than last year's average. His 5.28% clip would have been worse than everyone in last year's class besides Jacob Eason, whose receivers at Washington were notorious for the dropsies. To be clear, the Ohio State receiving corps was clearly better than Washington's and got open far more often, but Fields was putting almost every throw on the money and was let down by his teammates a bit more often than the average QB."

Fields played in what is essentially a run and shoot offense. Lance dictated protections every pass and didn't look at the sideline to wait for the coaches to read the defense for him.

Don't get me wrong; I LOVE Fields. But Shanahan wants a guy that he doesn't have the train the basics to.
If we drafted him, I'd be expecting Colin Kaepernick 2. Having a strong arm and speed isn't enough in the NFL.

And he has more than that if you want what he was asked to do...but you know let's throw stereotypes out there

Thats what was said about Justin Herbert as well.

Kaep had zero touch or layer to his passes what so ever he was a thrower of the football with a terrible release. He sure could throw a fastball. He was also not elusive at all he was just fast. It was painful to watch him flop around like a fish out of water when there was pressure. I could call a sack based off down and distance with kaep and be 90% right. A thrower and a runner not a qb.
