Honestly though, this sounds like Jones is the pick:

"If you were excited about getting one of these guys at 12, you should be excited about getting one at three. It's about whether you get one. So, let us go through the process — we're going to get a good one. Yeah, I wish I could take that anxiety away from people, but that's because people get excited."

It does - but at the same time - with more time to process - I can see that they haven't reached the final decision and are considering Jones and Lance - and don't like the idea that fans are questioning their process and how they can even consider Mac Jones at 12.

I do think that's a really ridiculous statement that if you like someone at 12 - you should like them at 3. Ppl liked Mac Jones at 12 bc they knew Fields and Lance will be gone and we will have a 1st round pick next year and the year after. It's like saying - if you like a car at 30K - you should like the same car at 60k. lol no - who the f**k likes to overpay for things?!?!?!?!

They've had a month to process since they made the trade. Sure hope it's just an elaborate smokescreen.

I am saying - for me - after watching the press conf. the 2nd time and more time to process - I think we are reading too much into it. I think they're annoyed that fans are so upset if they do pick Mac Jones (who may or may not be the choice) and don't trust them to make the right decision. I think that's where all the defensiveness comes from - not from - we are def. drafting Mac Jones.

That can be applied to any of the three guys though.

Some won't like Mac at 3 because he's limited physically.
Some won't like Fields at 3 because he doesn't process quick enough.
Some won't like Lance at 3 because he's too raw.

I think they're just defensive about - why should fans be upset regardless of who we draft? We will draft the best player for this team - and they should trust us. We have more info and we are the ones who have to deal with consequences - so fans really should get behind and see how that person performs. I think it's more of a generic statement that I am sure every HC and FO feels rather than we reading into it. I think the questions set them up for defensive answers.

For me personally - I'd def. trust them more had they not blown a 3rd overall pick in the draft before. Also - I think the statement that if you like a guy at 12 you should like him at 3 is moronic at the very least.

at the end of the convo

im warming up to him only if shanahan limits his running at first and doesn't stunt his progression awareness, and he's given two years to learn. This roster is too stacked this year to rely on a 20 year old rookie who didn't play last year, and last played against DB chuck from costco

I've been saying play Jimmy this yr, let Lance sit maybe have a couple package plays for him...then move Jimmy next yr when he has more value.

Doesn't mean anything. Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Mac "fat drunk" Jones would all say the same.

After reading a lot of comments I watched it expecting something to be there and I agree there wasn't.

It was obvious their goal was to continue to keep other teams guessing into who they plan on drafting.

Most of the questions were about Mac Jones or very obvious indirect questions about Mac Jones to see if Lynch or Shanahan would tip anything and Lynch and Shanahan saw right through them.

It doesn't matter if Mac Jones is the choice or not if you're goal is to keep people guessing you have to sell the idea that you could take Mac Jones and that's all I saw there.

Most of the answers were non answers or what else are they supposed to say answers.

I think this is something people tend to be a bit off on with NDSU. Yes, they're the Bama of the FCS. Yes, MOST of their competition is outmatched. However, there are some very competitive teams that NDSU faces. James Madison were slight favorites when the Bison stepped onto the field for the FCS championship despite the fact that NDSU was on what like a 30 game win streak? The good teams in the FCS are no joke, and that extends beyond the Bison.
