lol he was responding to the "talk to you Thursday"

Play it cool.

Now we have all of these catch phrases for the prospects... "That's the Plan.."..."Play it Cool..".. What do we have for Jones?

"Quest for Six"

That's already been taken for the last 26 years lol

Glad we're finally getting the guy to get it done!
Was this already posted here? Not sure whether to believe it or not. If it's true, I like their original plan, wish they could have pulled it off.

"49ers' inability to land free agent QB may influence draft decision (5:00 PM ET) If the Niners end up taking Mac Jones over Trey Lance, which is the way it looks as of right now, it's because of what they could not accomplish during the offseason. The team really wanted to sign a veteran quarterback and went hard after Andy Dalton as well as Joe Flacco.

The game plan was then to trade Jimmy Garoppolo, likely to the Patriots, draft Lance, and let him sit for most of the season. The inability to sign Dalton or Flacco put them in a bind and now makes taking a quarterback who's more NFL-ready a priority."
But Lance should be pro ready since he ran a lot of similar concepts

Really love Trey Lance. Hope Shanahan comes to his senses. He said he liked all 5 QBs and thinks all 5 will be really good. So, then just go with what the FO wants man.
Final Prediction, if it's not Mac Jones:

- 49ers draft Lance
- 49ers trade Jimmy Garoppollo
- 49ers trade for another QB to bring into camp: Bridgewater or Minshew being key targets (remember the "due diligence" we did on Teddy already?)

It is beginning to look more and more like Mac Jones. If that is the case, Kyle Shanahan will regret it.

The cockiness of the guy combined with too much power given to him by Jed will only spell disasters in the end.

I picked up a quote from Acho today:

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" - John Dalberg-Acton, 1st Baron Acton

I certainly hope I am completely wrong about this. Let's hope the pick is Trey Lance!!

That's a BIG IIIFFF, bro!

I am done with any prediction myself. Kyle/John always botch their first round picks more than half the time, I have Zero confidence they make the right choice again this time around, unless it was a no-brainer pick like Nick Bosa before. They are bad gamblers, this upcoming draft I feel no different.

So long Kyle and John, best wishes on your next jobs, soon, because Uncle Jed will not forget the four picks this time around that would set back the franchise years to come with your bad decisions.

Not buying this at all. If we really wanted to bank on an Andy Dalton or a Joe Flacco, we would have just offered them more money and wouldn't have allowed it to get to a point where it could supposedly influence the draft decision. Pauline is just speculating and looking for a new angle to get clicks.

To be fair, Jed had to do that to get him here.

I don't know, it actually makes sense to me. When this is all over, I hope we find out some of the background details like this, and if so, why it feel through.

If John Lynch has no say, then things will only get worse.

Even though Jed might have given him the power to get him here, but is really time to rein it back in.

Just think about the players Shanahan have signed or pounded the table for in the draft.

He thought Hoyer was going to be a fantastic bridge QB, the guy couldn't even last half a season. He loved Beathard and moved up to draft him, the guy turned out to be a complete failure and is not even with the team anymore. He pounded the table for Joe Williams, the guy never even played a down for the 9ers.

At some point, you need to let the front office do their job. Leaks have already surfaced that John Lynch prefers Trey Lance and Adam Peters absolutely loves Trey Lance. This is the way the front office is screaming to let the whole world know please don't draft Mac Jones.

If Mac Jones is really the pick and he turns out to suck. Kyle Shanahan can face the music by himself!!

Agree. You are drafting a QB at number 3 and you already sold the farm to get there. You are already all in. At that point you pick your guy.

Besides theres still plenty of trade options. Nick Foles could be had for a 7th round pick swap. Could swap Jimmy G for a QB and a pick, like Cam Newton and the 46.

I don't believe that. When the 49ers zero in on a prospect, they over pay. You mean to tell me that if we told Flacco, we will give you more that 1 Mil in guarantees or more years or more incentives, that he would turn us down to sign with the Eagles?

I agree. I hate how everyone acts like winning is the only factor to consider. I'm not convinced that Jones is the best fit even with that criteria, but there are other things that matter to me.

Although I've been a die-hard Niners fan for over 40 years now, I also don't just root for laundry, to quote Seinfeld, meaning I don't root mindlessly for whoever happens to play for the home team. Character matters to me, and to a lot of other fans, especially when it's the franchise qb, it's really the face of the franchise. I don't see Mac Jones as a good character fit for me, or for the bay area, quite the opposite in fact. I'd be happy to root for Lance or Fields.

I get more of a Roethlisberger kinda vibe from Mac, and not in a good way, he creeps me out.

Add in the lack of physical attributes, and the short-sightedness of rationalizing Jones with a must-win-this-year excuse. I'm a fan for the long haul, not for one year. Part of the problem is that fans are with teams for a lot longer than coaches are. If you're a coach, it might make sense to mortgage a team's future in order to try to win now. For life-long fans, and for the team itself, it makes more sense to build sustainable quality.

There's a lot we, and you, don't know. Is Pauline someone who just makes stuff up? Could be, I don't know his work so will listen if others say that is the case. Maybe Kyle and Flacco didn't hit it off when he visited our facilities recently. It seems like we kicked the tires on a number of these veterans, which lends credence to what Pauline is saying, and it's quite possible that nothing felt quite right to Kyle or to the veterans so even though that was what we were trying to do, it didn't happen. Or not, I don't know but I sure wouldn't be so quick to discount it.
