Trey Lance QB NDSU

Trey Lance QB NDSU

I do not believe for one second who they could or couldn't sign in FA dictated who they're gonna draft at QB...if that's how they run this team then we're in f**king trouble.

Yea, they can't be so short sighted. Right?

I agree. I hate how everyone acts like winning is the only factor to consider. I'm not convinced that Jones is the best fit even with that criteria, but there are other things that matter to me.

Although I've been a die-hard Niners fan for over 40 years now, I also don't just root for laundry, to quote Seinfeld, meaning I don't root mindlessly for whoever happens to play for the home team. Character matters to me, and to a lot of other fans, especially when it's the franchise qb, it's really the face of the franchise. I don't see Mac Jones as a good character fit for me, or for the bay area, quite the opposite in fact. I'd be happy to root for Lance or Fields.

I get more of a Roethlisberger kinda vibe from Mac, and not in a good way, he creeps me out.

Add in the lack of physical attributes, and the short-sightedness of rationalizing Jones with a must-win-this-year excuse. I'm a fan for the long haul, not for one year. Part of the problem is that fans are with teams for a lot longer than coaches are. If you're a coach, it might make sense to mortgage a team's future in order to try to win now. For life-long fans, and for the team itself, it makes more sense to build sustainable quality.

I hadn't seen his Nobama costume and mask until today, and at best it's very problematic. Combine that with the DUI car crash, rumors of partying a lot in college, and kind of a frat boy personality... Meanwhile Lance at 19 and 20 has none of those red flags, and they are red flags despite brushing things off as college boys will be boys.

The Nobama costume isn't an issue imo. But in California it could be because they worship that guy.

s**t go get Teddy or minshew still if that's what they think they need...Joe f**king flacco should NOT determine who they draft and want for the next 10+ yrs.

Maybe if they thought they'd be able to unload Jimmy quickly and use that money to sign our FAs. But now that our FAs returned and we don't need Jimmy's money until next year, why again do we want to unload him? Wouldn't it be better to roll with him and hope he returns to form while Lance/Fields wait until the wings?

And that's all we know about Mac...

I mean kyle point blank said what KC did with Smith Mahomes is how you draw it up, I think he mentioned it yesterday too.

You spent long term picks and you should be thinking long term.

Yeah, wearing a wig with dreadlocks and an Obama mask has racial undertones. As a white guy who grew up around racism and had to unlearn a lot of problematic thinking, the dreadlocks would be seen as a commentary on Obama being a "thug", which is the groupthink consensus of the confederate states. And even if it was completely innocuous, it shows he was a moron in the not too distant past.

Agree to disagree then.

Right. Truth may be somewhere in the middle. Pauline could be reporting sound information, but Kyle's opinion of Mac might be influenced by Kyle wanting a Jimmy replacement right away (surprising to me but that kind of does seem like where he's at), and Kyle may not see Mac as being much worse if any than Lance long-term.

If Kyle and the FO has pulled a fast one on the world, it will be a welcome revelation. It will mean they aren't predictable, the "leaks" were subterfuge, and there isn't a chasm between our evaluators and coach. It will also mean Mac Jones is someone else's.
