Trey Lance QB NDSU

Lance ran a more pro offense then any of these guys...he was calling protections, he was getting half the play then changing the play at the LOs based on the pre snap coverage. He was calling out lengthy play calls. He was going into huddles. He was taking snaps under center.

dude was basically running the same offense that we run.

So, do you think he should start week 1 if he's the choice?

Philly wanted a QB and was waiting to see if any fell to their spot

SF moving to 3 signalled a race for the remaining QBs leaving Philly on the outside looking in

They said F it and took the deal

They wanted Wilson and the Jets said no...that was it. There's absolutely no reason SF couldn't have moved to 6 to get Jones if that was the plan. None

1 reason is spot 6 is not guaranteed any of the top 5 QBs remain on the board

Carolina could easily trade to #5 and jump SF if Mac Jones was their guy

Just what I hear from the analyst mumble. Between Jones and Lance, Jones is the more ready prospect.

Yes, like I said. Just hearing all the analyst mumble

You don't think SEC talent vs D2 talent makes a giant difference?

Did it make a difference for Wentz his rookie yr? Football is football. Throwing to wide open WRs is the same if you're in the SEC or FBS

Do you realize all of these rookie qbs are gonna have to settle into the nuances and aspects of the pro game? Last time I checked none of these guys have plays a single nfl game. Why do we have to run 300 yards to win the game? Trey is gonna be a 1st round for a reason. He is, like all other qbs, are capable of starting day 1. That narrative of having to sit and learn is overrated. He's been sitting on his ass for a long time, 1 game in 15 months, he needs to play with live bullets.

I'm going by your reasonings. You think Trey can step right in, and by the sounds of it, SF doesn't skip a beat because they won a playoff game where Garoppolo threw very little. They threw very little because....they ran Green Bay into the dirt.

That he's been sitting has nothing to do with the step up from the college level he was at, to the pros.

We won games with f**king beathard. I think we can win games with Lance. Maybe we do run 300 yards in the first game. With the added dimension of treys running ability it could very well be the case. I don't see how trey is any less pro ready than Mac is. Hell I think fields is the most pro ready out of the 3.
Rich Eisen seemed to be a week ahead of everybody on the the "49ers were on Trey Lance at #3 from the beginning" theory.

There isn't a team taking Jones top 5 besides SF. Carolina had been trying to get Darnold since February...they did not what Jones's

I didn't say we won a lot. But okay Just focus on that part of my argument.

I'm simply pointing out that besides some sort of Hailey's comet occurrence, putting Trey Lance in Week 1 isn't gonna be remotely fluid. Most people deciding between Jones and Lance are overwhelmingly taking Lance....and of those poeple, the overwhelming concensus is that he needs to sit I tend to agree, which is why I want Garoppolo to stick around another year (because my pick all along when SF traded up to #3, was that they were doing this for Lance).
