Definitely think he can start week1. He played a prostyle offense and many are saying he is the smartest QB in the draft. With the talent 49ers would have around him, Lance should have the support to be successful. Starting young QBs too early usually happens when the whole team around them stinks. They end up with WRs who cant get open, lineman who cant block, and a defense that forces them to throw all game to catch up. Lance will be sitting pretty in the pocket, handing it off a great stable of RBs, running plays that make his life easy, throwing to capable receivers, and a defense that will keep him in the game.

I'm saying Lance could start if that's the plan...I would prefer ALL the rookies sit for a little.
My ideal scenario is the Smith/Mahomes situation.

Against talent 5x better than he's ever seen. Nah he ain't ready. He needs to sit period. The speed is way different, Jones and fields saw 3x the talent he did

No matter when he first starts, it'll be against talent that is better than he has ever seen.

I don't understand why the competition stuff gets brought up. Didn't Wentz play at the same damn school?

Sure but neither of them blocked a field goal and threw a 50 yard td pass in the same game either. Kid is a phenom

And that's fair enough. I take issue with 'could' vs 'should' narratives because every situation is different. Even the example you have noted is not really rooted in science, but it's just the latest 'greatest' example that people will point to.

First off sec vs his level is way different. He thinks he can run over everyone, and he cannot. He needs to sit back see the difference in pace, and learn he really gets hit in this league. And anyone saying he can is just guessing. Not enough tape against good talent to show he can. Actually there's no tape lol

Hmm no. But in one game he rushed for a td, tackled a guy, blocked a fg and threw a 50 yard td. He's ready

My point is whether we start him in week 1 or week 10 or in his 2nd year, it's going to be an adjustment.

Can we Trade Minshew then make Trey number 2 while Minshew or Rosen start. One of those 2 could be a long term backup.
