My buddy works for ESPN, he messaged me this:

Just did a taping at work. Shefter told SVP that he wouldn't be shocked if Lance goes at 3

He talked with someone for an hour a day or two ago and came away with the impression that (more so than not) Lance will be picked at 3

👀

Rich Eisen had it 1st. Everyone remember that.

No matter when he first starts, it'll be against talent that is better than he has ever seen.

Yes but not even close. Did he see any nfl talent at all?

My point is whether we start him in week 1 or week 10 or in his 2nd year, it's going to be an adjustment.

Definitely

So you guys think with a super bowl roster we should have him under center? LOL especially out of who we can pick? For the pro day talkers I didn't see lance outperform fields. I actually saw the opposite

I don't think we should pick a QB based on who we think will be the best this next season, but rather who we think will be the best long term. Personally, I want Fields, but I'd rather have Lance than Jones, even if Jones might have an easier transition.

I agree with your choices. My point is we have to go with who's ready the most now also if Jimmy's rumors are true

If he's the pick and we trade Jimmy G, then this is most likely a throwaway year. This dude has never played against even above average talent being from up north and playing in whatever division he's in now.
Not to mention he's never been in a huddle with a bunch of talented alpha(hate to use that word) males and demanded their attention and respect.

Once again in 1 game he rushed for a td, made a tackle, blocked a fg and threw a 50 yard td. In the huddle they'll be like holy crap TL9

My point is I wouldn't be bummed with Lance. I'd be bummed if we drafted him and traded jimmy. I don't even want Jimmy but I don't think lance can win a super bowl year one. And when you walk onto a super bowl ready team, those are the expectations

How does that change anything about being ready to get a ring year 1? Especially when it was against d2 talent

The trading Jimmy thing is nuts in any case.

Keep Jimmy for a season
Maybe he asked to be traded

I mean how is it any different then Jones? They both started 17 games. One guy was responsible for a whole hell of a lot more. I'd bet money if Lance stayed another yr he would be the #1 pick in 2022. So we got him even a yr earlier.

I also don't expect SF to not add a vet QB with legit starts under his belt...Minshew for a late day 3 pick makes sense.

So if we draft kyle trask that means he can start day 1 because he played in the SEC? Or Mond?

if you can play you can play.

Did Carson Wentz? Jimmy G came from D2 and play in what 2 games before coming to SF? Romo came from D2.

Minshew came from Washington state air raid 5th rd pick and played pretty freaking good his rookie yr.

who the hell did Josh allen play at Wyoming? Kid looked awful his last yr.

it's not like he was running some air raid junk offense either...

Just for the record NDSU is FCS (D-1AA) not D2

What if Shanahan wanted Trey the whole time but took the position that he wanted Mac in order to see how hard his staff would fight for Trey?....To make sure when they pick Trey the organization really has conviction about the pick.
