I bet 49ers leaking they want Lance is to try to get the Falcons to trade up with us.

Alternate conspiracy theory: what if they all really wanted Lance all along. The "prepare yourselves to be disappointed on draft night" talk makes sense if they think the fan base breaks down like the WZ did, with 80%+ in favor of Fields. If they thought fans preferred Fields to Lance 5-to-1 then they might feel equally obligated to get defensive about picking Lance.

Yup, and to our scouts too. It gives me hope that we really do have a strong structure if we make the right call.

The trading Jimmy thing is nuts in any case.
Agree, specially if they want to win a super bowl year.

If its not Fields, it better be Lance. I also hope if we trade Jimmy we get Minshew as insurance.

We won't know if it's the right call for probably a few years, no matter who they pick.

Alternate, alternate: What if Trey was the guy all along? They do like Mac Jones but use him as a proxy to see if someone would leak they actually prefer Lance. The Shanahan's are paranoid about having a competitive advantage.

I said this the other day. People don't want Mac so badly that they would be over the moon for Lance

We'll know whether or not we made the right choice when those sweet Training Camp completion percentage reports start coming in.

if you can play you can play.
Again my point was everyone probably including you says and know lance is a development project who could be super elite. It's been known he probably isn't ready, and in fact is the least ready according to the majority of who's watched his tape. If we kee jimmy cool develop him. But we are supposed to make a run this season.

Well if we don't win this year and start a rookie qb, this year was a failure. If we keep jimmy then it's not on the rookie. That's why you look at talent and readiness

Idk. I can make a pretty quick snap judgment. Based on probably half a preseason game
