Thats EXACTLY what i am hoping for. I dont buy that the "revolt" of the fanbase has no impact.
Make sure you let them know until the pick is in.
Jones would be the QB taken insde the top3 EVER with the lowest merch sales.
Usually you expect to have excitement in your franchise if you pick a top3 qb which clearly will be felt in jeds pocket.
If they go wrong - well...not so
Stupid stupid stupid. Niners picking jones will make fans stop watching the 49ers? So are we the dallas cowboys now? Just draft the flashiest fan approved player? They start winning the fans will come. Fickle bunch. Look at the warriors. Booed lacob when they traded monta. You can't buy warriors tickets for less than 200 now.
f**k the fans. Including me. Just win and everyone will have a jones jersey. Bunch of hypocrites.
Thank you! I love Mac Jones and Trey Lance. We are splitting hairs between two intelligent young men who have a lot to offer. Mac makes sense in so many ways but the wild card and unknown of Trey is intriguing.
I strongly suspect that Mac Jones is not and has never been our primary target. I think we traded up for Fields or Lance, with one of them being the favorite. Mac Jones was seen as an acceptable safety net if those two guys failed miserably or the draft didn't go as expected. He has never been anything more than a backup plan.
I do not believe a single word of the narrative that Kyle is set on Mac and the FO wants Lance. Which of these two scenarios is even remotely plausible:
- After making the biggest trade in their history, Kyle and the FO immediately turn into the Hatfields and McCoys over Mac Jones while giving a play-by-play of their draft process to everyone in their contacts.
- After making the biggest trade in their history, Kyle and Lynch need do everything possible to keep their strategy secret because there is so much on the line, so they provide the media with a distracting and polarizing story to run with.

This is not hard folks.
Keep in mind that there is a significant number of analysts who are not super high on Wilson. What if the 9ers were scared the Jets would change their mind?
Plan of attack: Prop up Mac to make it seem like the Jets are doing the right thing by passing on Fields and Lance.

Exactly. Especially with Fields, and considering the connections between the two front offices. You have to play like Wilson is the sure fire #2. Like there is no chance that he should be available to us. And of the guys that are, this Fields guy is no good. Maybe dropping to 8. KS buddy Simms has him at the end of the first round after a monumental slide. The medicals reports on epilepsy come out. Report on Field's agent been told he is no longer in play at 3.
If it is Fields, there are some professional smoke screens.

Fans will watch and come out just the same. Really, whoever the 49ers pick needs to outperform the other two guys or sentiment will turn.
If Mac isthe pick, fans will boo and hiss and ticket sales willlag, but many fans will rationalize and hope and wait to see the product.
I don't believe that fan forums and social media don't represent the majority of the fanbase the majority of fanbase doesn't follow the draft that closely if at all.

You are out of touch with what the fans are thinking right now. You forget this thing has been building and building ever since the trade-up.
I watched a Ronbo clip a couple of nights back just to gauge the current sentiments of the fan base, boy I had no idea so many fans are this p*ssed off with Shanahan as one by one phoned in to the show. You can go and listen to it for yourself.
Then, you add on top of that all the comments on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, there is zero doubt "fan revolt" is a real thing. It shouldn't be hard to understand, just look at the poll here on Webzone. 62% of the respondents don't want Mac Jones. What do you expect?
The other thing is Kyle Shanahan is impotent when it comes to talent evaluation. The record speaks for itself. People haven't forgotten about the Solomon Thomas pick, missing out on Mahomes, bringing in Hoyer, moving up in the draft to take Beathard, the Dante Pettis pick, the Joe Williams pick, etc. You won't believe it until you hear people recite all the screw-ups angrily as they phone in to tell Ronbo what they really think of Shanahan.
Even last night, I could sense the tension coming to a boil with one night to go before draft night. If Shanahan insists on taking Mac Jones, things are going to go south in a hurry.

Exactly. And it "coincidentally" lines up exactly how Simms ranks the qb's. "Hey Jets, you're actually getting the best qb in this draft! SF is getting the best qb available too! Don't worry about Fields and Lance, they're worse than 2nd-round Mond." I mean, it lines up to a T.
lol Trey Lance this morning pleading his case to be #3.
Seeing more of his tape this morning and he's very durable if he has to run. Now I don't want him to if we draft him but at least if he does he won't fold like a lawn chair if he takes a hit

If Kyle gets his 4 10+ losing season in 5 yrs, you can't justify keeping them
firing Lynch when everyone knows it's kyle running the show solves nothing. I love Kyle I think he's a top 5 HC. He's basically the GM too which is a problem IMO. Not a lot of HC in the league who do that are great at drafting too.
there's no more "faithful" or "trust the process" BS if they f**k this up...just isn't
Kyle Shanahan is 22-8 in the regular season with Jimmy Garoppolo as his starting quarterback. I'd like to think we have a good roster sans the quarterback position.

Likewise, I could make the argument that Justin Fields better be DeShaun Watson if they draft him, Trey Lance - Josh Allen, and the 0.000000001% Zach Wilson is available at 3 he better pan out too.

You're too emotional about this. I get it is major turning point for our franchise and this regime. There is a lot riding on this pick. I just hope for the best.

You don't understand, people don't want Mac Jones. The fans want a mobile QB of our own to take Shanahan's offense to the next level. Why are we always on the receiving end of mobile QBs?? Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray, Josh Allen, etc.
And you are assuming Mac Jones will win. Seriously? Based on Shanny's record on his pick of QBs? I wouldn't hold my breath. But, winning is not enough, Mac Jones will need to win multiple Super Bowls. Plus, you better hope and pray Lance or even Fields will bust out. If they become lethal mobile QBs, the fan base will never forget how Shanahan refused to take them.

He and Fields are both built like Safety/LB hybrids. The boot action/zone read/RPO stapes in the Shanahan playbook could have new dimensions with Lance or Fields.
