FWIW,..that's a snippet, not a decision. He loved a couple other QBs as well, obviously.

Yup. He actually said Shanahan was obsessed with Lance.

It was always Trey Lance. They kept it close to themselves and let do their work but making stuff up.
Still can't believe it.

So excited...can't even sleep!!

Wohoooo! Can't wait for that press conference.
Love this kid, Not only is he fast on the field but he's fast between the ears. Shanny is gunna turn this bloke into a superstar.

Hard agree - ironically I think Fields is more of a projection for one MAJOR reason. The guy is not a fast processor. He goes through reads, but the read and throw is almost always a touch late (or way late which was the cause for most of his INT's and the games they struggled offensively like Indiana, Northwestern and even some of the others like MSU that looked good in the box score).

I watched the every pass / run of 2020 compilation for both Fields and Jones and honestly Jones looked like way more of a sure thing than Fields. Not exciting but you immediately knew he could process at an NFL level. which that and drive are the 2 biggest reasons qb's bust. Fields has electric plays but almost every throw of his, even the good ones, is late. For someone that's already had a ton of career snaps it's worrisome that his processing speed is still so slow since it's not something that's going to magically get better with complex offensive schemes and NFL defenses and is a terrible fit for a timing heavy / in rhythm offense.

Fields may be one of the best 2-3 QBs in this draft - he certainly has the tools - but if Fields succeeds it's going to be playing Russel Wilson ball, which is fine, but not consistent and if most of his plays are off-script than why have Kyle or the other weapons we have? There's a reason All Pro in their prime players went to die in the SEA offense (Harvin, Graham) - he only thrives with receivers that also excel off script as either safety blankets (Baldwins) or downfield stretchers / jump ballers (Metcalf, Lockett) which is a totally different skillset. Lance to me was always the combination of on-script, intelligence, but with the off the charts traits to make every throw and go off-script when needed. It's alot like Mahomes in the Chiefs offense where he was raw but cerebral and Andy got him comfortable early by getting him on the move (playing to his strengths) but on-structure and mentality to commit to the play first and then have the internal clock to improvise at a certain point in the drop.
