Drafting Trey Lance puts an enormous amount of pressure on Kyle and the front office. This team is about to lose a ton of starters and have holes everywhere. People seem to forget this. Using your 12th pick on someone who doesn't immediately help us in 2021 while needing to sit for an indefinite amount of time is super risky.

Furthermore, I just don't see him as the robotic-type of thrower that Kyle wants. I don't think Kyle will be crazy about him, and if he's not crazy about him, he ain't drafting him.

I agree with you here and I hope Shanahan drafts Lance. But I just don't see it, what I do see is Shanahan having his eyes on of course Zach Wilson. But a much more reality in Mac Jones is who I see Shanahan would want, honestly he just looks like a Kirk Cousins clone and I mean that in a good way.

I understand both points being made here, but not only should he worry about locker room dynamics (they've pretty much built a family) he also can't make moves that take us backwards from our Superbowl goal, even if that's just a year.

Bottom line Jimmy gives us the best chance to win it next year not named Watson.

You may be right on the robotic aspect. I'm hoping that missing on Mahomes and Watson has taught him a lesson. I hope we at least meet the kid, marrying playmaking ability with the ability to make throws on time in structure is the way to win.

I honestly don't think you can win anymore with just one or the other.

Yea you guys got to get off this Mahomes kick.

Last 5 NFC SB representative

Tom Brady
Jimmy G
Jared Goff
Nick Foles
Matt Ryan

You just need the right QB for you and the right team around them.

I think we should target Lance - he'll be much cheaper than going after Wilson.

And 1 of them won, the AFC guys are just getting started, you need to compete or get left behind.

If you say so.

Going into the season with just Jimmy and not taking it all the way puts pressure on Kyle just as much IMO. He's got 3 losing seasons in 4 yrs and a trip to the SB smashed in between.

If they don't have a true answer or plan at QB this yr, that's risky as well. Jimmy goes down (again) you're looking at yet another losing season more than likely...that's a hard sell for the fan base/ownership IMO.

Get's a rookie QB at least tells fans/ownership you have a plan and there's a little breathing room...as far a robotic-type, go look at Rogers in the same scheme. 37 yr old MVP and he's not even close to a "robotic" QB.

Not sure it has to be Lance, BUT IMO they can't roll into 2021 with Jimmy and some random back or day 3 QB. Kirk ain't it either.
And if it wasn't for us choking 2 of them would have won
Today I'm learning more on Lance. I think he will be the 4th one taken and maybe only cost next years first to move up.

We can keep Jimmy bc Trey wouldn't be ready and see how the season unfolds. Heck knowing Jimmy's injury history Lance will get some playing time.

I think that's best case scenario for the team.

Opinion will probably change tomorrow

What enormous pressure? Didn't Kyle just get an extension. They know what Kyle can do with a healthy team. In my opinion, there's no pressure.

After next year, he'll have 4 years left on his deal. He's easily fireable by an emotional, knee-jerkish Jed York. We've seen it happen before. I think Lynch would be first to go, but if Lynch is fired, that means Kyle is on the precipice because his pick busted. 1 playoff trip in 4 years--hell yes, there is pressure.

Compared to other teams, that record is amazing. It's 1 super bowl trip in 4 years. 2 of those losing years was because of the injured QB. Honestly, would you really even count the first year with all the gutting they had to do with the team. Jed York firing Kyle Shanahan is the least of our worries.

Yeah, I remember hearing this exact line back in 2014 with Harbaugh.

I didn't, I heard the exact opposite. You could tell they had a toxic relationship.

Harbs turned down an extension twice. Shanny just signed his.

I do think they need to get the future QB spot right. This is the draft to do it. Let's grow a sack and go get Wilson
