Gary, I think the idea of Lance is a fun one. Physically, he's got everything you'd want, and a few people told me last summer that the Bison star would be an exceptional fit for Kyle Shanahan's offensive system. He's also a really sharp kid, from what I've heard, which I think would appeal to the Niners' staff."

We've got to get Lance by any means. Trade up for him if need be - he's the perfect fit for Shanny's offense.

I think the sweet spot would be with the Lions at 7. Bills moved up from 12-7 for Josh Allen and it cost 2 2nds. I would be completely fine moving our 2022 1st and a 4th to go get the kid you think is gonna be the future. Still have out 2nd, 3rd, 3 5ths etc. I'm also guessing in this scenario you're restructuring Jimmy and he's the starter in 2021. End of the day so be it, if Jimmy plays well enough you can move him in 2022 or at the trade deadline.

Lance could be similar to say a Herbert. They have similar qualities
I think I'm Trey's biggest fan, and I wouldn't advocate a trade up, let the draft come to us, or even trade down, so much talent on Day 2.

It's tough to justify when he has to sit for a year or even 2?
I see that the Niners attended Lawrence's pro day. I wonder why? They have no chance of drafting him. Maybe they're game planning already.
His lone game from 2020 was dreadful. Looked like a day 3 QB.

I wouldn't read into anything at this point.

Who says he does? He took a lot of snaps from under center and ran a lot of playaction. Hell a lot of the plays are the same as Kyle, maybe just different terminology. Same things were being said about Herbert and the offense he ran at Oregon was a lot different than what he did as a rookie, did he even take any snaps from under center at Oregon? Just start Lance off with the playbook Jimmy got in 2017 and let him go to town

Pure experience, one year starters tend to struggle, but you factor that was one year as a Red shirt Freshman and the competition level and Lance should definitely not be thrown in.

Just hasn't seen the coverages he'll be facing, let alone our offense would blow his mind. Kyle could put a sanitised version in for him in emergency, but it won't go well.

Add the fact that he's 20 years old, it would be setting him up to fail. Maybe I'm not Trey's biggest fan!

I've watched it twice, dreadful is a huge overstatement, average to middling would be fair.

Still showed flashes of what he could be, anyone who can't see that is blind.

I like this idea. He seems like a pretty raw player vs a very developed one like Bosa, comming out of college. What intrigues me about Lance is his mobility in the new age rules of protecting NFL quarterbacks. I think Kyle is right - in general - about mobile QBs taking a lot longer to develop and i think is a positive not a negative.

Lance will have time to sit back and learn behind the starting qb sort of like how Mahomes learned from Alex.

Lynch said he only attended Mahomes' pro day as a smokescreen. They aren't getting Lawrence, but they may want to give the impression that they are after a QB, while planning to stay put. They might be putting some heat on the Texans to make a trade (showing they're just as happy drafting a new QB), or they just might like the WR catching for Trevor.
Keep everyone and draft this dude already

It's an opportunity to talk with Clemson coaches about other players besides Lawrence.....especially with the covid lockdowns and such where there will be limitations. Good to see SF being active.
